Shaq was the better player, but Kobe averaged 31ppg during that road run. Give the man some credit, and answer the question.

penny had prime shaq and they didn't come close.

That Magic team had the talent but not the know-how. Lacked experience and world-class coaching.

funny.
When Lakers win, everyone says it was only Shaq while ignoring the fact that Kobe put godlike numbers on road games.

Then when Lakers lose, everyone says it was Kobe's team.

I want to say the Spurs from 2012, but I remembered they swept the first two rounds like nothing before getting rigged by Stern. Anyways, 12 straight playoff road wins is theoretically a 6 or 7 game series every round

Holy shit at Bean's numbers!!

To answer the question, this current Heat team or in years past may have been capable considering their level of talent and overall sorriness in the weak eastern conference

Shaq and Kobe covered more ground than Miami Big 3. Shaq was a different kind of dominance than Lebron and young Kobe had more than role player type importance.

2001 was like yesterday for me as I was in highschool. You Kobe fans were probably learning to read/toddlers at that time and wouldn't even remember or understand 5 on 5 basketball but its at least funny to watch you kids 'reminice' over a broken down player.

Do you have anything of substance to offer to this discussion or are you just going to continue sucking yourself off?

Kobe destroyed the Spurs that year.

Shaq was getting tagged teamed by Duncan/Robinson that series.

The reason Shaq got the MVP was because he had a better matchup with old ass Mutombo guarding him.

The sixers had a lot of guard defenders to throw at Kobe.

And who, exactly, was guarding Kobe while Shaq was double teamed?

Problem is level of competition in the western conference makes this kind of feat nowadays virtually impossible. OKC with an additional scorer in the east could be a force, but then you have to keep Miami and/or Indy winless at home, so you're in for a big challenge either way. Miami doesn't have enough scoring outside of the big three to sustain big leads night in and out. The Pacers with a 15/7 Bynum and one more scorer off the bench, I could see going somewhere, but you still have to go through Miami.

And I'm as familiar with threepeat Kobe as anyone, and I'm really struggling to remember a time when I defended him in the past with those kind of numbers, not to take the thread into a different direction as he was feasting on teams regardless but someone please redo the numbers; they're almost too good to be true.

Raja Bell was a very good perimeter defender.
