View Full Version : Kobe won't finish his career with the lakers. just sayin

Kobes assuming the lakers will magically rebuild this summer

he just keeps repeating "i trust management. the lakers always land on their feet"

well he's thinking in terms of past cba rules and the lakers being 50 million over the cap being able to swing trades

as theyre built. they have no real trade assets. theyre tanking.

so assuming the lakers dont get a great pickup in the offseason and the lakers start off slow next year ( also assuming kobes playing well and every game )

kobe will not want to lead a team into the lottery maxed out on the cap for the next few years

he'l ask to be traded and he'l be shipped before the trade deadline.

i believe itel be to either the brooklyn nets or new york knicks

102 million/ 88 million payroll

more than enough trade assets worth next to nothing in a title chase

theyel be desperate for anything at the time.

kobe will demand that melo still be a knick. and deron/lopez still be nets

so kobe will be traded for more than likely for joe johnson and a throw in/picks

or amare stoudemire + a throw in/picks

mark it down... copy and paste.. save to hard disk... this will happen if the lakers flop this summer

its obvious the lakers mindset is a slow rebuilding process..

theyre going into 2005 mentality. kobe wont stick around for that

you think them signing luol deng this summer and being maxed out on minimum contracts will help them make the playoffs?

kobes not a pay cut ring chaser like lebron.. he'l want a challenge and to be paid accordingly

he said he wouldnt ring chase.. but him on the knicks or nets would be a valuable ring if he turned them around

and he can still make 25 mill with them being so far over the cap

If they sign Deng, it will be for a year only. The thing is if Kobe really want to chase another ring, he could have taken less but it's easy to say that because it's not guaranteed while his contract is. Lakers already compensated Kobe so whatever they are planning to do Kobe should just let it be.

you think top level free agents are lining up for 1 year deals?

you think kobe will buy into a "wait another year. we might get kevin love" when 1 year to kobe is like half a lifetime ?

why.. jerry west never went back to the city that drafted him

he went with the team to LA and never looked back

he owes nothing to the city that drafted him. he wanted the lakers to get better

loyalty is with the team. not the city

No but I don't think getting Deng will make you a contender. He's not a game changer so why would Lakers give him multiple years and Lakers get further handcuff. Like I said if Kobe wanted to chase another ring badly, he could agreed for less and have room for more players.

I'm not saying anything about that...he should just go to hang with MJ and beat his ass on 1-on-1 everyday. lol

exactly my point. why would lakers sign anyone? other than bums or filler for 1 more year. then have a bunch of cap room

makes sense. i'd do the same

but... kobe wont like that.

kennethgriffin

the good thing is... the lakers will look real nice after 2-3 years

a few top picks

+

kobe demanding a trade = getting more top picks

+

buy out of whoever the salary is they get for kobe = more cap room

+

2-3 top level free agents worth of cap space

the lakers know what theyre doing. its the same thing they wanted to do with kobe back in 2005-2007 when management admited to phil jackson that they were using kobe to sell tickets while waiting on their picks to develope

its smart business. jim buss doesnt care about getting kobe ring #6..

kobe might realise this in time and get out before his careers over.. hopefully

Well it's going back to

if Kobe wanted to chase the ring so bad

Then he could have taken less

But action speak louder than words

He took the contract and we only room for one player

If it ain't Lebron (pipe dream) than forget about it.

I don't think any other player would make Lakers an instant contender.

So it's better to wait.

Sucks for Kobe but it is what it is.

like i said before. kobe doesnt ring chase. he wants to get paid and win

he did it 5 times before. never needed a pay cut to win. why start now and lose respect

I don't see anyone in their right mind trading for that massive contract, he is going to retire a laker

You have to be realistic

After his injury and the mileage

He will no longer be the player like he was once before.

To the OP, the contract and money involved makes a trade pretty much impossible.

Yeah, Kobe wants challenge and a huge paycheck. I can see a team out west providing something like this, lets just say the Lakers for conversation's sake.

No one will trade for the horrid contract of a 36 year old chucker coming off 2 bad injuries. Dude will retire a laker, but his career is already over.

outbreak
02-25-2014, 07:13 PM
If he hadn't just resigned to a massive contract and had his injuries I might agree with you. At this point though the only way he plays for another team is if someone signs him for a min deal when his lakers contract is up which I highly doubt.

Food for thought, this thread is pretty irrelevant because of Kobe's contract
