Root Canals are no joke. I almost teared up from mine when I was 13. Doc told me he forgot to administer the sedatives and he did the whole procedure while I was completely sober. :biggums:

Said I was the toughest dude on planet Earth and I didn't disagree.

Root Canal ? Sedatives??

Dude they numb your mouth with the needle, they don't gas you for a root canal.

Are you calling my dentist a liar? Or maybe his joke flew over my head when he said he forgot to give me sedatives.

Your dentist does both kids and adults?

I've had a few root canals in my day... I got the ill spots bruh.

Place in Everett give you 30 15 mg of oxy. That's an easy 400$.

My dentist is dope. 40$ extra and get all the laughing gas you need.

I was so keyed, when they got done with my root canal, I was pissed. High as a kite. Felt like 15 minutes.

I had the whole upper side of my jaw (four teeth) replaced. The problem is not during the visit because drugs are nice. The problem is after they wear off and you are home.

I think he was joking, I've had two root canals in the last 3 years.....just froze my mouth, no gas.

gas was never an option.

side note, they are removing 2 wisdom teeth in September, I was given the choice of gas or no gas......I went with no.

I had my wisdom teeth done by being knocked out totally, had a friend who did it in the chair and had a horrible experience

I was fully awake for my wisdom teeth removal. Fully numbed of course, but no gas or sedation. Wasn't too bad at all. I find regular cleanings to be more unpleasant. Although, hearing the sound of him shattering one of the wisdom teeth was kind of unsettling.

it all depends on how your teeth have grown I guess, she had the assisting nurse pass out during the procedure and the dentist took way long than normal to get them out. Didn't have any pain during it but was choking on all the blood. For all I know my procedure could have been terrible but I was asleep so I'm happily oblivious to how it went. I imagine in the states though you probably have to pay a lot more out of your own pocket to get put to sleep though?

Mine were fully impacted, so it definitely wasn't a quick procedure for me either. And actually come to think of it, they did give me something to take while I was in the waiting room that was supposed to kick in, but I wasn't really sedated. It must've been some sort of benzo to relax me, but it wasn't very strong. Lots of pushing and pulling and sounds, but no real pain or discomfort during the procedure.

I probably would've paid more if I had elected to be put to sleep (it was an option) but I didn't have dental insurance. Even if it didn't cost me anything extra, I wouldn't have done it though. I don't like to undergo anesthesia and take the risk unless I absolutely have to, especially outside of an O.R or by a non-MD.
