Mike Trout doesn't make anywhere near the endorsement money Lebron does so he won't come close. He will beat Lebron's salary earnings from the NBA though.

Mike Trout is barely in his 2nd year, and his sport doesnt have a salary cap. he will eventually earn 40-50 million a year.

I'm predicting he will be the face of Jordan baseball once Jeter retires, he will be the face of baseball for the next 15 years. I think he will clearly make more than LeBron.

Don't kid yourself, Woods is an athlete.

He change the entire game of golf.

People actually work out/lift to make their golf game better....all because Tiger Woods did

leaving the team that drafted you to team up with superstars so it's easier for you to win and cheating the salary cap because you make twice as much in endorsements isn't being selfish?

Federer will do it
Extremely marketable, smart, and he's Swiss. Definitely going to get involved in some big money making business once he's done with tennis.

As much as costing your team 30+ million while being way past your prime and not being able to do a damn thing for your team anymore except sit on your ass.

With his hefty divorce settlement, I guess tiger woods is no longer front runner for first billionaire athlete anymore. Or at least first black athlete.

His net worth isn't 200 million. It's just not happening. These dudes salaries are the interest on one bank account that a billionaire has.

Mike Trout will probably make 30 million a year max and little endorsements. No way he gets to 40-50 million. Lebron makes more endorsements than the rest of the baseball players combined.

The frontrunners for first Billionaire athlete

Jordan---his shoe sales and endorsements are sky high and increasing every year,

tIGER wOODS---makes at least minimum 50 million from endorsements, nike golf, and everything every year

Floyd Mayweather---owns his own promotion,co-promotes his fights, has his own management and is getting paid a ridiculous amount just to fight in Vegas and earns 50+ million every fight ALONG with having his own promotional company,he gets a cut of ppv revenues

LeBron----makes 40+ millon from endorsements every year and is only growing the more he keeps winning along with his popularity and merchandise sales

Oscar DeLa Hoya---owns Golden Boy Promotions which has had some of the highest selling fights ever

out of now, closest is Tiger then Jordan
But NOBODY WILL HAVE A BILLION DOLLARS,Theyll earn it but not have it bc they spend ridiculous amounts

If Tiger,Jordan aren't spending 50 million a year on mansions,gambling,divorce,child support,yachts every year they'd get there

Once Tiger Woods crashed that Cadillac into that tree, his chances of being the first billionaire athlete went down too. Can't believe his wife got over $100 million. How do you not make her sign a prenup? :facepalm

There will never be a billionaire athlete but someone will possibly have earned 1 Billion for a career on paper.

When Tiger wins 2 more majors his endorsement money will go up exponentially.

If the economy was good these past 8 years Magic would have been there. When it does pick up. He will be there. To me he the surest to do it.

After guys get big contracts in baseball they seem to fall off some. I thought Pujols was going to be one of the best ever... A Rod fell off.. Jeter lost his magic. I hope this guy does well. But if this guy wins a lot of world series for the Yankees he could be in the conversation.

Consider the following

interest earned
real estate prices increase
investment returns
off shore bank accounts
joint ventures and partnerships
sponsoring other programs/projects

You could easily have 20million 10 years ago and from that make 200million now.

deja vu
02-27-2014, 06:53 AM
Very hard for an athlete to become a billionaire. Taxes eat a big chunk of an athlete's earnings so even if he earns $50 million a year for 20 years (which he won't because he will earn much less as he grows older), he won't even come close to a billion dollars. Probably less than half a billion.

Only way for an athlete to become a billionaire is to own a business or businesses. Magic Johnson owns several businesses for many years and is not yet a billionaire.

Easily? Not by a long shot. If you've earned $500 million you're starting with $250millon after taxes/agents/managers etc but it would be difficult, not "easy" to increase your wealth tenfold in 10 years. That's not easy. In a low risk investment you could expect it to double maybe every 7-10 years. Increasing it by 10 in 10 years you would have to be investing in very high risk investments. Off shore bank accounts aren't an investment, they are simply a way to hide money and avoid taxes. They however, have become more and more scrutinized and accessible each year since 9/11.

He's still on his old contract, which is over 30 million guaranteed this season, but he delivered 2 rings & 3 Finals on his current contract, you can't judge how bad his new contract is until he actually plays those two years out. Under the current contract, he did his job.

i see, so the 48 mil. is for the 2015 and 2016 season ? okay then

Jasper

hard to famtham for us , blowing $50 mil , and calling it backrub'see

But some athlete's are clueless to value.
As so many :violin: about living in the getto , the bottom line , is that they can hire attorneys and investors and make a ton of money on money.

Example Junior Bridgeman.
He realized he wanted his money to work for him/ so he went back to school , learned the fast food business.
Now his company owns over 200 cafes, which include 160 wendy's.

He currently is talking with Bucks owner Kohl to buy the Bucks, or part of them.

Bron as I stated before will follow Majic Johnson, but will be the first pro athlete to become a billionaire. (trust me it will happen)
He doesn't need 25m a year to play bball , he needs a team to help make rings that equate into that billion dollars.

KyrieTheFuture

I reiterate, there is a massive difference between earning a billion and being a billionaire. LeBron will not get there.
