Just got into it with a vegan that believes McNuggets is processed into a pink slime and then shaped into McNuggets. There is a lot of claims on the internet that say this is so. Anyone else believe that or have 100% factual testimony on this?
I don't think this is true. I've seen footage of the meat they use and it looks no different from chicken sausage.

Here is the real deal. They are less than 50% actual chicken skeletal muscle however. http://www.npr.org/blogs/thesalt/2014/02/06/272112028/oh-so-thats-what-goes-into-a-mcdonalds-chicken-mcnugget

Now, that is a canadian mcnugg, so its entirely possible that the US ones are not the exact same process.

Lets put it this way, they dont make pink slime for shits and giggles. it is going into lots of "chicken" products you probably eat.

the new nuggets that came out are "real meat", but it's so heavily processed you wouldn't know it if you saw it.

there was a CNN video that shot down the "pink goop" photo as well...that photo went viral and most people associate it with McNuggets but I am fairly certain it all just fake BS

McNuggets, regardless of what is in them , are loaded with sodium and fat and nitrates and are generally unhealthy

Pink slime is an actual thing, but that picture is not it.

Anyway the thing about fast food is, it's like alcohol or tobacco or anything else that can be used reasonably in moderation, but becomes bad for you when you abuse it like an idiot.

Eating a thing of chicken mcnuggets every day isn't any different than eating a plate of spaghetti and meatballs every day. But if you supplement the spaghetti and meatballs with some canteloupe and a salad, and you have your mcnuggets with fries and a coke, one is gonna be a lot worse. Or if you just go to mcdonalds every time you're hungry instead of snacking on almonds or pineapple or carrots. Sadly, the reason so many people are unhealthy is because they ABUSE fast food. Not because the food itself is some toxic poison.

Google "mechanically separated chicken". I think McDonald's stopped using it 10 or so years ago. But it is still in plenty of low quality chicken products. Just look on the label as it's required to be on there. Pretty sure it's still used in Slim Jims

1. No it is not a hoax. Mcdonald's did use the pink slime and that is actually the real picture of it. They stopped using it after it went public.

2. The reason why people are unhealthy is because of the fast food itself. It is poison. It is killing more people from chronic diseases than both accidents and smoking COMBINED. We know very little about these chemicals they put in the food because we have been sidetracked by the propaganda it is all about personal responsibility instead of doing the proper investigation to find out what it really does to our body.

Until we get off this bullsh*t "personal responsibility" mantra, we won't find out what the truth is. Tobacco companies used the same PR when they were being accused of lung cancer, and it took the public a long time to realize it's not about personal responsibility and there is really something in these cigs that are killing people.

"Pink slime" is the common name for a controversial beef product. The name used in the meat industry is "lean finely textured beef," abbreviated LFTB,[1] and "boneless lean beef trimmings," or BLBT.

The product is used as a filler or to reduce the overall fat content of ground beef.

http://blogs.usda.gov/2012/03/22/setting-the-record-straight-on-beef/

Pink slime and mechanically separated chicken are not the same thing. Pink slime doesn't go into McNuggets as they are a chicken-based product. I'm not saying there may not be a similar product used to inflate the chicken products, but the product known as "pink slime" is for beef. Not chickenz.

edit: Maybe you weren't the one claiming pink slime was in McNuggets. Well, anyway, to whoever has that impression... it isn't.

Pink slime is a phrase people used when they saw that pic because guess what it looks like pink slime. I don't know what the f*ck that is but that's what they were using to make the chicken mcnuggets.

That is mechanically separated poultry. They used to use this for nuggets. Now they use white meat and chicken skin. Though the recent independent analyses have all found that the nugget is less than 50% skeletal muscle and appears to be MSP (with ground bone, etc). It is unclear the source of those nuggets (the researchers decline to identify the food establishment of origin)

Honestly, people have survived dire situations by nourishing themselves on everything from cardboard to feces. Native Americans didn't let a single ounce of Buffalo go to waste. I totally agree that you can't over do it, but people are acting like if you don't eat true chicken breast it will disintegrate your vascular system. Like a 5 piece mcnugget is some kind of hemlock.

It's like people who are now saying bread is terrible for you. It's like dude, people have been living off that shit for 5,000 years. Most people today eat bread and we're living longer than ever. STFU with "omg, haven't you heard the latest research about how terrible bread is, omg its like the new GLOBAL WARMING."

People take the health crap way too far. The body is resilient. If you don't straight up gorge yourself silly on processed crap or rely solely on it for nutrients, you can probably live to be whatever. Look at some of these athletes that eat nothing but candy or mcdonalds. All that "poison" hasn't stopped them from being some of the most impressive physical specimens in the world.

This is an ignorant way of thinking. Just like any other food, the way we make bread today is very different from how we make it 5,000 years ago.

GTFO if you truly believe athletes eat only "candy and mcdonalds." You're f*ckin retarded. What a stupid statement.

Their is a product used to make some meat called "pink slime". It's not actually bright pink slime that looks like that though. You'd have be a moron to think somehow that becomes something that resembles a nugget. And it's already been disproven.

So no, Chicken McNuggets are not made of pink slime although I'd avoid them anyway, They are little fried things...

Mcdonalds nuggets are the nastiest piece of shit I have ever tasted, that 5 dollar 20 piece deal is pure garbage. After eating like 2 of them I wanted to throw up, I just dumped the rest in the trash can. Mcdonalds is the ultimate quantity over quality fast food joint, their only decent items are the 1 dollar Mcchicken/Mcdouble.

haha, it's probably not really meat. Or it's so far removed from the meat it once was... but pink slime that's luls.

Whenever people say shit like that, no need to argue with them just be like o ok. Even if they're right (by some stretch of the imagination) they get trolled cuz it's so unbelievable. If you actually argue with them you're giving their POV credence.

McDonald’s has announced that it will be discontinuing the use of the controversial meat product known as boneless lean beef trimmings in its burgers.

The product was recently brought to the attention of the public by celebrity chef Jamie Oliver, who derisively referred to it as “pink slime” on an episode of Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution,

These trimmings, which consist of what’s left of the meat after all the choice cuts of beef are taken, are banned for human consumption in the U.K, where they are instead used for dog and chicken food. They are legal for consumption in the United States, however, where they are treated with ammonium hydroxide in order to kill off bacteria such as E. coli and make it safe for human consumption.

Beef Products Incorporated, the company that had previously supplied McDonald’s with boneless lean beef trimmings, denied that Oliver’s show had anything to do with decision, saying it was made long before the show aired and was based on BPI’s inability to supply McDonald’s on a global basis. BPI also pointed to its recent placement on food safety advocate Bill Marler’s nice list and numerous food safety awards as evidence of its commitment to food safety.

McDonald’s also issued a statement confirming that this decision was long in the works.

“At McDonald’s, the quality and safety of the food we serve our customers is a top priority,” the company wrote. “At the beginning of 2011, we made a decision to discontinue the use of ammonia-treated beef in our hamburgers. This product has been out of our supply chain since August of last year. This decision was a result of our efforts to align our global standards for how we source beef around the world.”

Burger King and Taco Bell have also discontinued the use of boneless lean beef trimmings in their food.

I've been eating McNuggets dipped in honey for years. They taste so good. It doesn't seem like I'm eating bone fragments or pink slime at all. It looks and tastes like umm...chicken

uhm, they were made with that exact product until 2003. Mechanically separated poultry. They only changed to avoid public perception.
