Just picked up a spalding Zi/o excel, pumped it yesterday and this morning it was flat (not completely, but def way flatter than what I pumped it to)

Could I have ****ed the valve by pumping it without lubing up the pump needle first? :mad:

Short answer, Yes, that's why it says "Moisten Needle Before Inserting"

yup you definitely put a hole in the valve. I've done that to a new ball a couple times at least. i know that feel

Store let me return it when I explained what was happening, I have a new one coming in the next few days hopefully.

Any tips on how I can not do this again? Bit of saliva on the needle and good to go?

Spit on the needle or run it though your hair.

You want to go gently on penetration. Don't just shove it in, that's probably in part reason why you broke your ball last time. A little spit is fine. If you want to go fancy, you can try this:http://www.amazon.com/Bike-Dri-Slide-4oz-Needle-Nozzle/dp/B001F2Y25G
