Caron Butler intends to signs with the Oklahoma City Thunder when he clears waivers, sources told ESPN.

Good for them, finally picking up one of those free agents.

You are fast!

  :pimp:

LOVE this signing after not picking up Afflalo before the deadline. Allows KD to play more stretch 4 while still maintaining a good balance. I'd love to have Caron out there over Lamb when we go small with Jackon/Westbrook/KD/Ibaka.

Some of Thabo, some of Lamb, and some of Perk depending on matchups. Thabo and Lamb shouldn't see more than 20mpg.

Sounds good. I don't know much about 2014 Caron Butler or the Thunders rotation but I guess it could be a good fit.

Guess Caron probably didn't want to go to Miami and sit on the bench or outside of the rotation.

So does Miami just roll with Liggans the rest of the year?

Ben Gordon probably signing with Houston imo.

He sucks, but he could be useful as a brute off the bench. A shame Granger signed with LA. Was the only real buyout candidate that I though could really help the Heat.

Damn, quality pickup for OKC. He clearly will slice into any minutes that Perry Jones gets, and probably some of Sefolosha's too. I thought it was a given he'd jump on a plane to South Beach immediately.

I'm surprised he didn't sign with San Antonio. Veteran group, Pop, veterans do well over there and he would have gotten a lot of minutes.

I haven't seen or read anything that implies there was any interest from either side. Spurs were going pretty hard for Granger, supposedly offering a "Robert Horry" role, but playing for Doc and alongside CP3 and Blake was probably too tempting to pass up. Not to mention the fact he lives in LA.

Spurs will end up with some scrub like Josh Howard.

This signing for OKC is really intriguing though.

Caron couldn't get run in Milwaukee. You think he is going to contribute in OKC?!?

They needed someone to take min from Fisher or Perk. They have wings up the wazoo, all of whom can defend unlike Caron.

This makes sense though. Everyone assumed Miami would grab him but they didn't have a roster spot for him and I think Liggins is both the better short term and long term play. And he can give them all kinds of insight into OKC OOB plays, etc.

He got plenty of minutes before he got hurt. Plus the Bucks are in tank/development mode (Middleton/Giannis), so why would they play him anyway?

For the Knicks fans, would it be wise for Miami to invest in Metta Artest? Giving him the Battier D and 3 role? He used to be a super defender, does he have any of that left? I think Miami need somebody who can help Battier in that role since Lewis and Beasley are not to be trusted on defence.

I don't see why not. He didn't play well here but he didn't play much and we're a ****ing mess. Woodson didn't like him but he's the worst ****ing coach in the universe so that doesn't say much. And one things, he's not afraid, he won't crumble, if someone gets hurt and you need to stick him out there crucial minutes, he won't blink.

As a Laker fan, no. He still has quick hands defensively but his legs are gone. Can guard some bigs but too slow to guard the SF spot and his lack of offense would kill Miami's spacing.

They weren't to start the year when he led them to the worst record in basketball. He is no longer an NBA player. He is ATROCIOUS defensively, is shooting 38% from the field, and has been a malcontent. Nothing worse than a scrub who thinks he is entitled. Wouldn't be surprised to see him off the playoff roster.

The guarding 4's is what Miami need much of in the playoffs, especially if they want to continue the effective small ball. If Metta could somehow get some good minutes on West when Battier is on the bench, foul trouble or just flat out being owned by West.

Caron is shooting 42% on spot up threes this year. Guys like Thabo, Reggie, Lamb, PJ3 all take a ton of spot up threes and none shoot them that well.

He'll be a veteran 3 and D guy. According to 82games.com he's been defending 2's and 3's very well this season.

Not a Knicks fan, but wow, that would really be a terrific idea for the Heat if they could get him for a reasonable price.

Both Butler&Granger are done. Dont really care. Good for OKC.

Butler seems to be somewhat of a cancer. Wherever he goes his teams dont really improve but almost play better without him. Granger&Butler are incredibly inefficient this year too.
