I got to go to Bedford, Texas to do some training this coming March. What's good?
Here's primarily what I'm looking for:
- Good BBQ joint that best represents Texas
- Good craft beer place
- Place to play pick-up ball outdoors
- Solid 25+ night club
- Any recommended sights nearby
Help me out Dallas!

Bro, I apologize, I thought Bedford was near Houston! I think I told you I was heading to Dymatize HO for a conference one time right? Turns out it's near Dallas. I know, geography in not what of my strong points. :hammerhead:
This will be my first visit to Texas since getting hired

I can't, we got too many work shops so I don't want to get stranded. Unless you pick me up and get me back!

Is the craft beer top off the line there?
Almost every bar in the area is a micro brewer or carry local crafts. You can go to Abby Pub or Bar Louie for good beer. Fred's Texas cafe for good burgers or chicken fried steak, M lounge to get classy, Pop's safari for cigars and wine, the Pour house for hundreds of beers and a fun 25 to 30 crowd with live music, Wild rooster for cheaper beer but diverse atmosphere, etc... It is an area where you get a cab to it and just start walking. Nothing you hit will truly disappoint, it's more about what night you're there.

craft beer is way behind the eightball in texas, though it has exploded in the last 4 years or so. Lets put it this way, in 2009 there were something like 140 breweries in MI (about 10 million people) and less than 20 in TX (with 21+ million) and that includes the fake craft breweries like shiner.
However, this has changed and there are good breweries in all of the major cities.
Rahr and sons is a decent dallas area one.
St arnolds out of houston is straight terrible
My favorites are Real Ale (Blanco - nearish to Austin), Jester King (Austin), and Karbach (Houston).
Here is the best list I can find. Even with the recent explosion, there are still only ~40 breweries in texas (not including brewpubs).

OP, I live in Hurst, TX, right next to Bedford. Maybe we could meet up.
As for BBQ, there is a joint in Euless called North Main BBQ. It's family owned and only opens Friday - Sunday. 15 bucks for all you can eat.

Come out for St.Paddy's day!
You're less than 20 minutes away drive time but it is literally one highway (820) so easy to get to. If you're there on st. patty's you have to go to Poag Mahone's (it's an Irish pub, the name means kiss my ass) It's the place to be on St. Patty's. Also the Pour House which is across the street. I lived in a condo in the area for years it was my hot spot but have since sold it and moved to the burbs for family life. I do marketing for a major beer company in that area still though so I know it like the back of my hand. We are having a baby right about that time so I can't join you but have fun man!

If you are going to be in Dallas I would recommend the Pecan Lodge for BBQ
For a laid back environment either Deep Ellum or Lower Greenville. Those two areas are what I would say have the most "Austin" vibe to them as it pertains to a single area with bars and music venues.
Deep Ellum is a little like 6th street though no where near as full of bars and restaurants. It's in the middle of an urban renewal project so its a bit jacked up right now with Elm all torn up and there are a couple of completely dead spots. My favorite places in that area are The Anvil, Angry Dog, Sirius Pizza, DaDa, and Trees.
I prefer to hang out on Lower Greenville though you should know that its not all one big line of stuff. LG is basically broken up into 3 sections between Mockingbird and Ross. The first section is where the Grenada Theater, Sundown, Gloria's, and OT Tavern are. Then its homes for a few blocks leading into the second section where Stan's Blue Note, the Londoner, Dubliner, Dodi's, Blue Goose and a few others are located. Then again its a few more blocks of homes before you get to the lowest section of LG where the Truck Yard, Nora, Kush, and the Libertine are located.
That part of LG has a few empty spots b/c it recently went through the same type of urban renewal that DE is going through and between the year of a torn up street and new zoning rules we lost a few of the bars.
Uptown/West Village can be trendy but its probably the highest concentration of bars that are all on top of each other. It's lost a little appeal to me since the Loon has closed though as that was pretty much the one place you could go in that area and not worry about having to act like an OT baller. There are a ton of hot women in that area though. Technically I guess Katy Trail Icehouse is in Uptown but its kind of off by itself and is a pretty fun place to go drink. There will be a ton of people there and quite a few hot women. Its a fun place to watch a game.
On Knox/Henderson it gets a little more trendy again but its not as bad as Uptown and you can find laid back places like Beauty Bar, Barcadia (a bar w/old arcade machines) Chuy's, or Sangria. Only problem with that area is its kind of split in half by 75 so you'd have to walk over the highway bridge if you want to bar hop. Its not awful but it annoying enough that I tend to stay on one side instead of walking across the way.
Across the "river" is Oak Cliff where the Bishop Arts District has sprung up. Cool places in that general area can be the Hotel Belmont if they have a concert, The Kessler Theater, The Foundry, and Tillman's Roadhouse .
Most places are not going to be hopping unless its Friday night or the weekend so don't expect the biggest midweek drinking scene.

^^^ that is where I get my BBQ...competition winning ribs...really good shit
It isn't much to look at inside...but it's the real deal BBQ
Bedford is actually kind of out of my area/range...I did the majority of my drinking/partying Deep Ellum/Greenville Rd/Addison
Addison is full of awesome restaurants btw...it's a little far for you though I think
