In 2022 the NBA will turn 75 and I expect a 75th anniversary team. Keeping intact the 50th Anniversary Team, what 25 players at this point in time look like a lock to be added to that 50 for the 75th Anniversary team?

I"m going with Lebron

Mikan
Pettit
Cousy
Russell
Baylor
Wilt
Oscar
West
Havlicek
Kareem
Barry
Erving
Moses
Bird
Magic
Hakeem
MJ
Barkley
Shaq
Duncan
KG
Kobe
Dirk
Lebron
Wade
Durant

Locks
Anybody who's on the 50th is already accounted for, if they're the 50th anniversary team I'm assuming the NBA isn't going to remove them for the 75th so the question is really what 25 players since the 1997 ASG have earned a spot to sit with the 50 greatest?

You can't have Barkley without putting Malone.

Good locks, I wonder if they'd consider adding anyone that got 'snubbed' from the 50th such as Dominique Wilkins

So its going to be 75 players? But what about the players pre-'97 that were better than post-'97 but didn't make the list?

Kidd
KG
Kobe
Iverson
Nash
Duncan
Dirk
Lebron
Wade
Durant

Would be locks

Edit: CP3 would not be a lock but has a good chance to make it by the time he's done.

Do you think 'Nique Wilkins will make it this time?

I do think there's a real chance some of the super old guys (pre-shotclock) wouldn't be included. Maybe I'm wrong, though.

The players I predict will be added to the team:

Duncan
Lebron
KG
Durant
Dirk
CP3
Howard
Wade
Kidd
Kobe
Melo
Payton
Nash
Iverson
Wilkins

Some are not locks above, but if they continue their careers like they started they probably will make it . That is 15 players. Also there are young players who may make the team depending on how their career/improvement goes: like Griffin, Love, Davis, Cousins.

More than likely there will be a 1-3 players who will enter the league with in the next 2-3 years who will make the team as well. Rodman possibly could get added.

Retired players who could get a look, but the chances are smaller:

Yao
Mourning
T-Mac
Mutombo
Ben Wallace
Webber

Some players who got snubbed from the all-time list at that time:

Dominique Wilkins
Bob McAdoo
Bernard King

Those might be the only locks.

Others like:

Walt Bellamy
Bob Lanier
Alex English
Adrien Dantley
Gus Johnson
ect.

Have gotten passed up.

Recently retired players:

Gary Payton
Jason Kidd
Allen Iverson
Reggie Miller

Those three possibly the only locks

Tracy McGrady
Chris Webber
Kevin Johnson
Tim Hardaway
Chris Mullin
Mitch Richmond
Yao Ming
Dikembe Mutombo
Ben Wallace
Alonzo Mourning
ect.

Active Players:
Kobe Bryant
Tim Duncan
Kevin Garnett
Dirk Nowitzki
Steve Nash
LeBron James
Dwyane Wade
Kevin Durant

Those are locks

Ray Allen
Paul Pierce
Dwight Howard
Chris Paul
Derrick Rose
Carmelo Anthony
Chris Bosh

Have a shot, some more than others.

I have 15 locks. The other ten you can pick from the leftovers.

No, the NBA will snub historic players, 50 greatest are the 50 greatest (aka 50th anniversary team). You don't suddenly take anyone off that list, they were the best of their era, their era will still always be valid and a very important part of NBA history.

They did snub a few of the 25 year team I believe. Joe Fulks and Bob Davies didn't make the NBA at 50.

That still makes me shake my head. How in the world could you not include Dominique Wilkins among the 50 greatest NBA players. I mean he only scored 26 thousand points. I am sure that he will be on that list of additional players. He should have been on that first list.

Got snubbed for either Pippen or Worthy at the forward spot.
