View Full Version : Should Hibbert be worried about Oden?

When the Heat first signed Oden everyone said he would probably never play a single game for them, but not only is Oden playing he is producing! We all know how much Hibbert struggles to score when guarded by a player his own size. Hibbert is probably shitting his pants at this very moment at the thought of having to go up against Greg "Hibbert stopper" Oden!

He should be worried about Wade and Lebron to be honest. They are the one's who will decide the series.

Yes, Hibbert is a mediocre center who turns into Shaq vs. the Heat. Oden can neutralize that for a good 10+ minutes if he continues to progress

The only thing Hibbert should be worried about is making the guy a life-time cripple.

All Oden has to do is stand there and Hibbert will look like the offensive mediocre center he is. In fact, Hibbert is a mediocre defender as well. He is only good at defense.

Actually Hibbert is not afraid of Oden at all, watch Ohio State VS Georgetown and you know that Hibbert owned Oden in that game. Oden was definitely effective against Noah though, in both NCAA and NBA, but the Bulls aint beating the Heat with or without Oden anyway.

Yes oden playing will keep Hibbert from averaging 20+ ppg and put more pressure on George ,Stephenson and West to beat Miami
Which in turn swings things in Miami's favor cause those 3 will not out score Miami's big 3.

I'd worry more about Bynum, because when healthy, Bynum is a better player than Hibbert, and if Bynum can get right (physically, mentally and tactically) for the playoffs he might be playing the big minutes.

I seriously doubt Bynum will get a single second of playing time against the Heat. Dude is a lazy defender and would ruin the Pacers chemistry. Vogel is well aware of this. Only reason the Pacers signed him was so the Heat couldn't. :lol

Cream rises, Larry Bird is the attitude whisperer, Bynum is special, and don't forget there were a lot of talking heads who said the Lakers should go forward with Bynum and not Kobe just a couple years back. Obviously that is ludicrous now, but don't think this is Larry's first reclamation project, Jalen Rose, Paul George and Lance Stephenson might be able to articulate otherwise.

Fact is, in Bynum's peak with the Lakers there was serious discussions about him being one of the best bigs in the league and a game changer.

Yes, easily. Not because its Oden but because Hibbert sucks and having a 7 footer guarding him well give him problems. Any decent 7 footer really.

Of course not, Oden is nowhere near as good as Hibbert.

But then Miami doesn't need him to be, all he has to do is fight Hibbert for boards 15-20 minutes a game, while freeing up Bosh to play at his natural PF position.

Miami won last year even though Wade(15-5-4 44%FG) was bad and Bosh(11-4-1 38%FG) was awful. They don't even need to be great this year, just something closer to their normal performance.

So far Oden has picked up a lot of fouls when he was on the court. I doubt he can defend Hibbert effectively without fouling. But at least he might make it a bit more difficult for Hibbert to get tons of offensive rebounds and put-backs.
I also think Miami needs to worry more about the West vs Battier (or whoever) match-up.

You know Oden won't play more than 15 mins per game, right? Hibbert has nothing to worry about.

Miami just needs to talk about Oden playing "vertical" at the postgame press and they'll be all right. His fouls are a concern.

Anytime you put on Hibbert something bigger than 6'11, 250 pounds, he becomes useless on the offensive end (and specially on the offensive glass, since he is a ****ing terrible rebounder anyway).

Actually Oden might be the X-Factor along with Wade's health

hibbert plays extremely soft when hes matched up with legit bigs. When he played the hawks I never seen a 7,2 big shoot as many floaters as he does.
