Who's the greater player?

Lebron is already a Top-10 all-time player, while Hondo would probably be somewhere in the 15-25 range.

I think Bron at this point is the greater player. And he's peak value wise been better than Hondo for many years. But I give Hondo credit for being most likely the first perimeter player to be a great scorer, great rebounder (for a perimeter guy), great passer, and great defender all in one. While also having the ability to play and defend. PG, SG, and SF. I'm sure Big O has an argument, but I don't consider Big O a great defender. So in a sense, Bron evolved stuff Hondo brought to the table as well. We all know Bron is compared to Big O and Magic mainly. But Hondo was very important in the evolution of the epic well rounded alpha dog kind of player.

Wilt & Kareem = irrelevant?

Absolutely for Wilt. Kareem played into the late 80's so I'll give him some respect.

4x NBA MVP, and 2x Finals MVP > 1x Finals MVP. You cannot compare a first scoring option to a second scoring option for Most of his NBA Career. Hondo is still top 20.

Wilt would dominate this era, what about Oscar? A guy that your boy, LeBron looks up to?

So Kareem is irrelevant. He started playing in the late 60s and won Finals MVP on 1985.

When you have some time, I want you to do some RESEARCH, and post the numbers that a PRIME scoring Chamberlain put on centers like Imhoff, Fox, Dierking, Reed, Bellamy, and Thurmond...and then compare them what a PRIME KAJ did against those SAME centers (many of whom were declining when KAJ faced them). OK?

Oh, and how about this...

A PRIME Kareem faced an aging Thurmond in 40 career H2H games, and in them he AVERAGED a .440 FG%, and his high point game was 34 points.

A 38-39 year old KAJ, who couldn't jump over a match-stick, in TEN STRAIGHT games against a 23-24 year old Hakeem, AVERAGED 32 ppg on... get this... a .621 FG%. Included were THREE games of 40, 43, and 46 points (on 21-30 shooting and in only 37 minutes.) And, in 23 career H2H's with a 23-26 year old Hakeem, a 38-41 year old KAJ shot .607 with only THREE games under 50%.

Havlicek was the leading scorer for many championship teams, more than Lebron. Also Finals MVPs started in 1969 and Havlicek won 5 titles before 1969. One could argue that he would have 2-3 FMVPs if the award existed earlier. You can't compare awards that didn't exist yet for part of a players career.

I'm sure some of the old timers are gonna get this before me but,

An aging Wilt used to shit on centers that gave prime Kareem troubles.

Think about that for a sec.

If people would be willing to be honest with themselves, this is true.

If you wanna be really real..... Bill Russell would be Kendrick Perkins in today's league.

Dr. J and David Thompson didn't put up any significantly better numbers in the 70's than Hondo did. Do you think those two were bench-warmers in today's NBA, as well?

I was referring to your Russell would be Kendrick Perkins in this era line, the notion that these players would be nothing in this era etc

Putting aside era vs era bullshit...Lebron has just been a better/greater player, period. Hondo is extremely underrated in general, but has no claim to be considered better than James.
