To be honest, I thought DeRozen was on his way being a Nick Young type of player but I was wrong.

He's clearly expanded his game and his improved his playmaking as well as his jump shot.

But to me Lowry is the engine that makes the raptors go. He's playing like a top 10 PG (probably because it's time to get paid) and does every thing pretty well. He is a great defender.

for me their success will depend more on Lowry.

Nothing in OP's post told me how great the rest of the team was tonight, without our best wing defender. Where's the love for Patrick Patterson's key shots down the stretch ? Or Amir's all-around game ? Or Landry Fields playing solid in his return to the Raptors lineup ? Or Jonas having a bounce back effort after his game against the Wizards ?


It's kinda frustrating to remind others that this team isn't just Lowry and DeRozan. Also, why overrate one guy over the other ? Infact, why even pit them against each other when we can just let this season ride out ?

The OP does bring something to attention, which I was already aware of. Lowry just came off a tough shooting month, and DeRozan's month was the best of his career. It's not surprise to anyone following this team that DeMar turns it up in the 2nd half of the season and he's been great post-all star break. It seems that Lowry is fighting a banged up body (where a 4 day lay off is going to help everyone) and for now it seems he can't maintain his playing from December-January.

However, I will retain the point again... Lowry > DeRozan from what we have seen OVERALL this season. DeRozan can show us that he's as good and even better than Lowry at time and probably even more heading down the stretch, which would be great for the team. That's what should come first before if your a fan of the Raptors.

Pretty much. No reason to be selective.

Both are producing at a high level this season, Lowry's just been more productive so far. If DeMar can maintain his current pace, this is much more of a discussion.

I'm more concerned about the development of our younger players. Ross is coming a long fine and I'm hoping Jonas continues to learn from his mistakes in the post.
