Is this correct?

Same concept. We keep them as pets so we can play with them and look at them like zoo animals.

There is really no difference here.

Zoo isn't animal cruelty

False. No one pays cat or dog owners for taking care of the cat or dog.

They don't but they are getting entertained in return.

Owners get satisfaction playing with the dogs. Whether that is walking them, petting them, playing fetch or jerking them off. There is intrinsic value.

Dogs and cats have been bred to co-exist with humans over thousands of years. It isn't the same as caging a wild animal. They have become both dependent on us as well as emotionally compatible with us.

Youre right its not the same but who GAF.

In most cases the animals in the zoo represent an insignificant fraction of the total number of the species.

Im all for animal conservation/species preservation. But if youre going to argue that zoos are wrong because thousands of people get to enjoy them while a couple ANIMALS from each species have their feings hurt, I am going to :facepalm

My dog and cat live the happiest life. I think they may just be the most spoiled animals ever.

Dislike cats. They don't know their place.

Give a bit of food, shelter and affection to a dog and it will draw the conclusion that you are God; do the same with a cat and it will draw the conclusion that it is God.

The things humans do to feel like a god. They go as jerking their dog off, walking them and making them fetch a ball so they can feel good about themselves.

i don't believe that's true of cats, actually.

domestic cats are very closely related to the african desert wildcat from what i've read. they are essentially wild animals living in partnership with us, originally because the rise of farming attracted rodents, and cats followed the rodents. it probably took little to attract them and to spread them around the world, eventually.
