Phenomenal game by him.

It's just depressing to watch considering his current state, and how most people on here have already forgotten how ****ing good he was.

Another epic finals game 5 by Kobe was in the 2000 finals.

Those Boston teams were some of the most annoying ever assembled. Even I was rooting for LA to beat them :oldlol:

That was an impressive run since it was likely his first out of his prime (which I think ended with the ankle injury in the middle of that season).

Assuming these upcoming couple of seasons will be his last, hopefully we get to see some more quality play from him. :applause:

Watching those highlights really makes me want download the whole series and watch it now with an objective eye. I couldn't at the time because i was such a biased LeBron fan. Now, even though LeBron is my favorite player, i can appreciate greatness.

I have actually been meaning to write a short essay(1-2 pages) on why 2009 Kobe was a better player than 2009 LeBron. The levels to which people dismiss Kobe's 08-10 run is disheartening.

Don't even waste your time. You could write the most thoughtful, supremely intelligent argument, but you're just gonna get flooded with "didn't read lol" gifs.

Kobe in that 3rd was bonkers. I was going crazy watching him BOMB threes. LMAO @ the D-Wade face on the LONG three.

He was on pace that game to truly carve out his own legacy game. On the road, in the Finals, against a great defense. Shame he didn't continue the hot streak into the 4th to will the Lakers to victory.

Wade's 46 in 3 quarters v.s. 2010 Celtics
LeBron's 21 point 1st quarter v.s. 2010 Celtics
Kobe's 3rd quarter of game 5 in the Finals v.s. 2010 Celtics

All crazy games. If Kobe kept that pace in the 4th, and if LeBron kept his foot on the pedal in that game 3, we're talking about potential HUGE legacy building games. Came up just short though.

Probably. But still, it would be aimed at the people who don't have an unmovable stance regarding the topic and at least would enjoy reading something beyond the usual" 29-7-7 >>>> 27-5-5 and it's not even close!" argument.

I know right. Us basketball heads, myself specifically, would love to read that essay. Everyone else? Just here to troll, pump their favorite player / team, and not want to appreciate the game itself.

I love basketball, so I'd love to hear it.

Agreed. Even when the cowardly Heat teamed up in 2011 to beat them, I rooted for them that series.

It doesn't get more obnoxious than those 2008 - 2012 Celtics. I hate KG's post Minnesota, over the top troll antics. Can't stand Rondo's attitude. Don't like Pierce, either. Then you had James Posey, or pumped up role players throwing gasoline on the fire.

So glad LeBron single handedly STOMPED that team out after they were talking trash to him. He put the lid on the coffin, Undertaker style in that game 6.

Agreed. Rondo was most especially a pain in the ass. Used to hate that smug look on Ray Allen's face every time he hit a three.

They could ball. One of the most well put together team's in NBA history. KG-Pierce-Allen-Rondo fit like a glove. Perkins was alright, but he was replaceable. One of the best teams I have seen when it came to making you pay for turnover, missed rotation, etc. But god damn, that team had a lot of players I couldn't stand. It got even worse when they had Sheed and Nate Robinson.

I miss that.

KG, Pierce, Allen, Kobe, Gasol, Odom, Artest, Bynum...... Perkins.

Lakers/Celtics.

Great series.

They were a tough out for Miami and LA. Biggest reason why Lebron, Wade, and Bosh joined together IMO. Boston had a strangle hold on the conference as long all three of them were on different teams.

That must have definitely been on the back of their minds during the whole process. When the Heat beat the Celtics in 2011, the relief and sense of accomplishment that was expressed by LeBron and Wade was clear. They seemed more accomplished than in the next series when they booked their ticket to the finals in game 5.

Wade and especially bron got a lot of shit for supposedly overacting in front of the cameras when they closed them out in 11. But those guys were relieved as hell IMO.
