View Full Version : Why doesn't ISH talk about Andrew Wiggins anymore?

Why wait to he actually starts playing college basketball to stop hyping him?

What's his stats so far? With the way he was hyped, I'm sure he's beasting :confusedshrug:

His stats are 16/6/1 shooting 44%. I prefer Jabari, 19/9/1 on 48%

The more you hate, the bigger chance he busts.

Others have been better offensively.

They say his defense is good though.

Because he's struggled.

Because before the college season, there were some pretty insane comparisons. And so far, he's not even remotely close.

I think he'll be a phenomenal player in the NBA, perhaps even an all-time great if he wants it bad enough. But the expectations that he's had to carry for a few years now are just staggering. We've heard everything from Lebron to T-Mac to smaller Durant to Kobe, and after a certain point you kinda just have to step back and realize that he's 19 ****ing years old. Not a single player in NBA history was perfect at that point. He's a freshman in college, he has tons of time to fix his flaws and reach or at least come close to his potential.

In what way is Jabari just a chucker? Just because he's a scorer? Comparing him to Rudy Gay is pretty absurd, really.

I never said Rudy Gay wasn't good, he's actually very good if put in a position to succeed. It's just not a good comparison.

I don't think you understand what the term "ceiling" means in basketball.

I keep hearing Wiggins has elite defender potential. I look at his stats and his blocks/steals are unimpressive

Why do people keep saying this?

Cuz if Indy picked him up right now.. He would completely shut down bron in the ECF

He'd look real good in a magic jersey

The funny thing is that he's had a good season for a freshman. The problem is that the way he was hyped he was supposed to be the next LeBron. He could be an All-Star by age 24 and have people talking about how disappointing his career is.

Just another case of college ruining a player's pro prospects. He'll be amazing in the pros, and we'll look back on this thread and laugh, just like we do when Drummond threads are bumped.

He was a clear cut number one coming into the college year, but a month deep into the season somebody else on his team moved into the number one spot. The biggest downer part on Wiggens behalf was that he couldn't fly over everybody like he did earlier in his career - he's not Vince Carter like. But to his credit his shot is a little better than expected and he already owns a pretty nice floater. Nor is his slashing ability like the Junior year Wade. But still these are the type of comparisons you like to hear.

His feet movement is still what it was expected. He should still be a very good defender. Had Wiggins went to Syracuse he would have been given the green light to run a bit more and would have stood out a bit more. Still a stellar player.

Are you serious? You're not gonna learn anything by looking at blocks and steals on the stat sheet. Watch him play and see how much the guy he's guarding scores. He's a pretty good defender, it's his offense that needs work, but it's coming along slowly.

Every time I see Wiggins he's camping out on the perimeter. His defense is really good, but he doesn't have a motor. He's just not aggressive. He looks to be coasting a lot and he rarely even breaks a sweat. Parker on the other hand looks to be engaged in the game at all times. He shows emotion. Parkers defense needs to improve but he's really playing out of position. He's basically duke's starting center at 6'8". That experience of playing down low will really help him at the NBA level.

Wiggins will have more freedom in the NBA, but it just doesn't seem like he "wants it". He reminds me of Jeff Green at Georgetown in regards to his emotions and just disappearing.

According to moe, that 'drive' doesn't exist.

It's all black and white with moe. Never played a sport in his life.

Wiggins is not as highly competitive as I thought he was. he showed a lot more emotion in high school, but I guess the true mental giants show up against the best.

Whatever happened to playing like Dwayne Wayne did at Marquette?

This dude is bulllshitting us right now with his weak ass motor.

Watch him play a few games. He's a really good defender. And his 2nd/3rd jump is elite.

Are you insinuating that he's always been a passive bitch?

Why won't you admit that 'competitive drive' does exist and is what separates D Wade, Westbrook, Paul from all the other guys?

He has the worst touch around the rim and he isnt aggressive enough to just bang it on dudes like he should be doing.

He will probably be an all star though, not the superstar he was hyped as.

But why won't moe admit he's just not that good at basketball?

That's another thing, he has the touch of Westbrook but no where near the aggressiveness on either end to make up for it.

I don't hate Rudy Gay but I think it's funny that every time he gets traded the team he was on previously starts playing better.
