I live in Australia. My brother has been a fan of GSW for probably more than twenty years even though they're a POS franchise. Why is he a fan? Not because of anything the team has actually done. Because he feels like he needs to be loyal, as if that makes him a better person or something.

If you are rooting for your local team then fair enough. But I like the Heat atm because they are a damn good team, they win, they have some of my favourite players, (incl. Ray Allen - been a fan of his for years). When Ray retires and D-Wade falls apart and if LBJ leaves yada yada yada I will get on with my life.
