What SF would people really put over LeBron at this point? Bird is the only one with a case. Everyone else got blown out of the water a long time ago.

He said something good, right? Okay, great player and wonderful human being with vast knowledge of the game. He knows what's up. If he's sneak dissing, he's a trash baldy who had the least impressive dunks of all time.

You got some sense, I see. Though, ABA Dr. J would have a case, too.
And OP is a Collins for not being honest about what Drexler said.

Basically.
Any "geezer" disses Bron is irrelevant from a weaker era.
They praise him and they're a wealth of basketball knowledge.
With that said, I don't rank really any SFs better than Lebron.

Yeah, about a minute into the discussion as a reason why he doesn't rank Jordan over LeBron or LeBron over Jordan. THe discussion started when he clearly said "I wouldn't put ANYBODY above LeBron. I just think he that kind of player".

There isn't a single SF I would take over Lebron. As much as I hate to say it, that includes Bird. Really the only SF with a chance to surpass him is Durant considering how ****ing good he is right now and that he's only 25. If he peaks at 28, who knows?
BlackVVaves
03-04-2014, 11:01 PM
Why are people saying SFs, he CLEARLY said All Time first. He only jumped to say SF once his colleague mentioned Bron only has 2 rings, and that when "he gets his third and fourth ring we can put him in the same sentence as Michael."
Hit rewind if you're suffering from selective listening.

He didn't rephrase. He back-pedaled to avoid looking like the partial idiot he is. Once rings came into the discussion..."Well....well it's a team game!! Matter fact lets just compare him to small forwards so I don't look like a complete dunce on TV."

:oldlol: Everyone keeps asking me this. Giannis will eventually transcend positions even moreso than Lebron. He will literally be able to play and defend every single position at an elite level, we can't label him as any specific one.

He was a star. But I put it in quotations because he truly believes he was as good as MJ. And he was clearly not on the same tier as MJ, Magic, Bird, Malone, Barkley.
Second tier star that had a couple first tier years.

I would still have a hard time putting LeBron over Bird both in their peaks. Career longevity wise LeBron definitely has Bird. But I'm not sure I would take anyone over prime Bird, any position. He might not be better than Jordan but I don't think prime Jordan was better than prime Bird.
It's closer than people admit.

So bizarre he'd rank Bron so highly after saying he could drop 40-45ppg in this era.
Past players and their opinions can go stick it.
By the way, from all my viewing of all various amounts of different sports, the NBA is the only one that you constantly hear players hyping up their own era excessively, and saying how it was better back in the day, etc. All other sports I watch embrace the change, evolution of the game, and really marvel at the progression current players have made since back when they played.
So many bitter players coming through the NBA. Don't know the reason for it.

that starts with the "me 1st" culture that is a big reason a lot of people start playing basketball in the US.
Most NBA fans do the same.
I want durant to surpass lebron even though most people see me as a lebron stan here. i would want future stars to surpass every player from every past era. Unfortunately, most people are too nostalgic and think the best time of their lives was the best time ever.

Yup.
There are a lot of young fans who haven’t followed the progression of Glyde's commentary on Michael Jordan or anything Magic related. He went from actually calling MJ the greatest of all time (there’s video proof on YouTube) to taking sideswipes at Jordan time after time again over the past 7-8 years (not that saying he isn't GOAT is an insult). The comment about Jordan not being the greatest isn’t the only piece of evidence, he’s been taking shots at MJ for a while now. Needless factless shots.

Oh no doubt. Magic on Clyde's team was talking about how MJ was toying with dude's psyche post '92 Finals, and abusing him in practice. How about when MJ put 35 on him, sodomozing him in front of Marv Albert, and the Chicago crowd in the Finals? If the game was actually competitive, Jordan could've put 70 on dat ass. Made Drexler his bitch.

Lebron is great and all, but those acting like he's passed Bird on his play alone are wrong. It will be longevity that does it for Lebron.
Bird had a 5 year stretch in which he averaged 27/10/7 on 51/40/90 shooting...won 3 straight MVP's and 2 titles. Made the finals 4 times in a row...

Peak value wise, I would take Bron over Bird. And for me it comes down to the defensive side of the rock. But I certainly wouldn't argue hard if one chose Bird over Lebron peak value wise. GOAT wise, Bron has a case over Bird RIGHT NOW! Line up Bron's accolades with Bird's and he truly has a case as we speak. Another ring which caps a three peat seals it for me! But peak value wise, Bron, Bird, Dr. J, Baylor, and Barry are my top five. All five were very revolutionary when they came around and changed the game. So I agree with Clyde becasue he made the distinction that he picks by position first.

Bird's peak was better, righhhht.
LeBron 2012 > Any Bird Season. They LEGIT are EQUAL in most categories (LBJ 2012 to whatever Bird season 1984-1987) with the difference being LeBron played like a DPOY and Bird was an average defender.

This. I've heard him denounce both what Jordan and Magic did in comparison to himself saying the same old bullshit about how their teams were better. He completely forgets that Magic led the Lakers to beat the Blazers in 91 when the Blazers were the clear favorites and considered the more talented team coming off the best record in the league and a Finals appearance. Then when he talks about Jordan's team he completely forgets that back then the consensus was they had equal teams or the Blazers were actually more talented. Oh, and then of course he leaves out how he got to play Hakeem with 4 years, and also Barkley for 2. Seriously, Jordan wins like 7-8 titles if him and Drexler switched places, and Magic is definitely more successful then Drexler in the same situation (might not win much more just cause he'd be going up against Jordan and the Bulls.)
