Probably says a lot more on the lack of elite talent LeBron is facing than anything else...

LeBron
KD

http://www.basketball-reference.com/awards/pom.html (Feb, not included)

If you'd taken a minute to look up the history of the award, you'd notice that the award was league wide from 1979-80 to 2000-2001. After that, they split the award for 1 player from each conference. So it was cheapened somewhat when there became 2/month instead of just 1.

Nonetheless, if you were to look at the Western conference counterparts for when he won the award, he was matched with:

Steve Nash : 1
Chris Webber : 1
Elton Brand: 1
Carmelo: 1
Kobe: 4
Yao: 1
CP3: 4
TP:1
Durant: 6
Zbo: 1
Dirk: 1

Most of those came within the last 5-6 years when he was clearly the best player in the game. The only people on that list who might have actually had better months were Kobe, CP3, and KD. I'd be comfortable in saying that he was probably better than his western conference counterpart at least 75% of the time. If the award were league wide like it used to be, he'd probably be right around 20-21 awards. Still comfortably ahead of Jordan.

This award didnt start until 1979-1980 and from 2001-2002 two players were allowed that award (1 from each conference). This doesnt take anything away from Lebron's POTM's though considering he would have won all of those 27 anyways, if they picked only one player each month he would have still won all those 27.

Nah, this is way to old news for me... he was #1 here since many years ago... no point in making a thread about it. He will probably end up with 50 or something :P

This. Divide the number by 2 and you have a much more realistic figure.

He wouldn't have 27 but he would have in the 15-20 range.

weak era for POTM. 1 for each conference is a joke

lmao what a strange award. In November of the 2002-2003 season, three Mavericks (Finley, Nash, Dirk) won the award. Along with the Eastern counterpart who won the award, Tracy McGrady. 4 in one month. :oldlol:
