I'm convinced it is a great place for 21-25 year old people, but not somewhere I'd want to settle down. Southern Cali seems to breed a lot of shallow douche bags.

Pretty much. I highly doubt there is a better place to have as a home base. I feel fortunate to have it be my home. I would feel more fortunate if I was somewhere by the beach though. Sacramento is alright... But there are a couple months out of the year I would prefer to be elsewhere in the state.

it's nice but housing costs are a bitch. the whole 'girls are hotter here' argument is kind of played out. don't get me wrong...plenty of fine bitches around here but if you go the right place anywhere, there will be attractive girls. i've lived in FL and there were plenty and many seemed way less self conscious of themselves.

You guys are way off, it's West Virginia hands down.

Cultural hub, fine dining and sophistication, gorgeous women, fabulous architecture, epicenter of scholarship and engineering. Its just generally very clean, the population is very healthy. Obesity and STDs are practically unheard of compared to elsewhere in the country and in the world.

Its really kind of a "dream locale" Id love to some day live and work, or at least perhaps retire to.

California - great weather, fantastic beer, great food, dank weed (and access to quality, fair priced substances in general if that's your thing), fine bitches, nice beaches, amazing forests and national parks, amazing schools and universities, the basketball team with the greatest fanbase in the league (Warriors), etc... it's the ****ing greatest.

I've come to realize weather is the most important thing.

After dealing with a terrible winter here in Oklahoma, (Can't imagine how you f*ggots farther up north deal with this shit on a regular basis) I would say that California is the best state only based off that alone.

NY is for obvious reasons.

Go home son, NY ain't sh1t compared to California. It's cold as **** in the winter, humid and stank as **** in the summer, and people are way less down to earth and less chill. We got Stanford, UCLA, UC Berkeley, hell the whole goddamn UC system (best university system of any state/province in the world) plus the best basketball in the world. If you're trying to step in other sports we got you beat there too. And Hollywood > Broadway

Yeah you keep tellin yourself that bro if it makes you feel better :oldlol:

It's one state called California, fool. And even if you wanna try to single out Norcal like a moron...

We got Napa valley making some of the best wine in the world, the best craft breweries making the most delicious beer, and the Emerald Triangle producing the dankest weed anyone's seen. We got Yosemite and other breathtakingly beautiful national parks, and we got Lake Tahoe with some great slopes if skiing or snowboarding is your thing. Otherwise you can head to Santa Cruz if you're more of a surfer.

We got two of the best universities in the world up here, a bunch more of the best universities in the nation, and we got Silicon Valley, you know that place that no one gives a shit about, full of worthless companies no one gives a shit about like Google, Apple, Facebook, Tesla, Oracle, Pixar, Yahoo, Netflix, eBay, Intuit (the only reason your ass got your taxes done is because of Norcal son)... like I said, sit down ya dumb fvck

In 2 weeks, I explored probably 70% of Oahu. I'd get sick of living there, because I like exploring more, yet you are trapped within about a 30 minute drive. Plus no good pro sports. I have a ton of friends who have lived in Hawaii, and the only ones who obsess over it have their entire families there. Everybody else just feels isolated.

We're talking about states, not cities. NYC may be one of the greatest cities in the world, and I will not disrespect NYC and say that SF is better on a global level. But New York as a whole isn't shit bro. I already explained it, but there is only one state called California, which encompasses both the northern and southern halves. Sorry, but NY just got shitted on by half of my state. Just be happy you're a top 5 state. Shit I've barely scratched the surface, I mean the Human Genome Project was born and went down here, hopefully you know what that is, and why it's a big deal.

Our universities are better (and don't try to claim Princeton because they're in New Jersey), our weather is better, our ability to ski/surf/snowboard/backpack/hike/camp/swim/skydive/mountain bike/offroad/rock climb etc is superior. Wall Street is nice and all but welcome to the 21st century where you search for your investment bank on Google through your iPhone or Android.

None of this has even included SoCal yet, because there's no need.

Like I said, CA is the best because of the "ability to ski/surf/snowboard/backpack/hike/camp/swim/skydive/mountain bike/offroad/rock climb" as well as the great companies, beautiful weather, amazing universities, fine women, and sports teams.

The abundance of extremely high quality beer, wine, and marijuana is just a tiny little bonus perk on the side, IF that's what floats your boat. If not, look to the above paragraph. No one's choosing California because of weed. Not sure why this is difficult to understand.

Anyway as far as natural geography/climate, I agree cali4nia is a distant first. There are other cool things bout it too. Also some shitty things about the two specific areas most people live. Highest taxes in the country yet most amount of disheveled street beggars. Awful transit in Socal. Smog. Shitty foreign drivers. Bloated bureaucracy. Gangs. Basically anything having to do with politics, is awful in california.

Obviously people are gonna be partial to whaever place they already are choosing to live. Duh. Youre gettin defensive bout shit like someone called ur mom promiscuous. You seem like ur bout to start challengin dudes to a fight thru the internet if they dont show respect to cali. Relax doggie.

ive been to every state in the US, and if i had to live in another place, it would be seattle. i loved the time i spent there, but ive always been a fan of the rain.

and if i had to choose a place to party for a week, id pick beale street in memphis. spent a couple days there on a road trip some years back. absolutely loved it. and honestly, i wasnt even old enough to appreciate the place at the time (only 20), so ive always wanted to go back.

dont forget no state income tax

That helps but the research has shown that more poor and middle class Californians are leaving for places like Texas.

Millionaires will itemize their state income taxes and have the best accountants and lawyers to take advantage of the tax code.

Also most of these millionaires would take a pay cut moving to Texas. Sure Phil Mickelson and Dwight Howard can get by because they can play wherever but this isn't the case for most.

California is a piece of sh*t.

I've lived there most of my life (hence the d*ckish attitude) and after moving to another state, I don't even want to go back there.

1. The housing is f*ckin horrible. Expect to spend at least 2 grand on a 1 bedroom apt in the ghettos where you hear gunshots and can expect your tires to be stolen and, at worse, your car, and good luck you don't get shot up living in that sh*t roach infested apt you just spent 2 grand on within a month of being there.

2. Who cares how good the weather is, if you are spending 2 hours in traffic to get to the beach to enjoy it, it beats the purpose in the first place. You can't enjoy the nice weather BECAUSE IT TAKES 2 F*CKIN HOURS TO GET ANYWHERE. Try planning a bball game with one of your boys, most likely, it'll take you two hours to get there and dude has prob already played 3 pick up games and only asking you, "Yo you got some gatoradezz BECAUSE I'M SWAMP!" when you get there.

3. Good luck finding a good career because guess what, even if you have a doctorate and want to be some f*ckin doctor holding someone's balls, there will be thousands of other people in line for that job. The competition is fierce. It's like every single smart person in america made up their mind and said, "Hey I'm going to california and ignore the 99% of other opportunities in other states.

Those who are saying it is great 1. Already lives there, and thus are nothing more than bias tools you shouldn't take seriously or 2. Have never been there and are nothing more than a bunch of idiots hypnotized by the commercials where they see the palm trees and Adam Sandler at a local AMC theater.

Trust me, as a guy who grew up there and experienced other states, I can say hands down, without a doubt, this is the worse place to live in America.

And, of course, I challenge anybody to take me on, which I'm sure nobody will since most posters in here do whatever they can to avoid having an honest intelligent convo with me.

Not all of California is condensed like LA is. In San Diego, which has over 3 million people in its county, there is only traffic for two hours in the morning and again in the evening. In LA, there is traffic from 6am until 8 or 9 at night. Sometimes later than that. Not all of Cali is like that. There are areas in California that you can live in with low housing payments but you're not going to be near a large city. Personally I haven't had a problem with living costs or finding a job. It's possible to be successful here without having to fight for a job.

I've been to NYC, Miami, Indianapolis, Dallas, Las Vegas, Albuquerque, and Flagstaff. The only place I'd think about living out of those places is Miami and NYC. I'm a big city guy though, and I realize it's not for everyone.

So basically California sucks because it a desirable place where a lot of people want to live causing large supply of workers, traffic jams due to all the people living there and expensive homes due to the market demand of people wanting to live there.

Rambo = keeping it real like always.

bigking = lives there, can't afford to explore other places, and is doing his best to rationalize his meager existence.

P.S. What you see is what you get with Rambo. He would never be bias and act like it is truth.

What you see is a total idiot and that's exactly what you get.

This really is the california catch 22.

Because its geography/climate is ideal, its become overrun with people and swept up in bad ideas rooted in mobthink.

Cali grows a ton of the nations produce. Without us the rest of yall would starve..

Texas takes in more federal aid than it pays in taxes. Hell it doesn't even have any natural lakes. Yes, ANY.

The biggest downside is the traffic.

hills and trees, we got hills and trees, hills and trees ain't shit

:lol And vineyards that produce some of the best wine in the world. And redwoods. And a climate that's cool at night and warm during the day. And it only rains a few days in the Spring (for the most part). And a short drive to a fabulous rocky coast. And world class restaurants. And 1 1/2 hrs to San Francisco. I could go on, but it's more than the idyllic setting. It's a feeling I get whenever I'm there. Hard to explain.

Fck your GMO corn, your shitty lake, high property and income taxes and corrupt state. Granted Chicago is a nice metropolitan city and COL isn't too bad unfortunately it's unliveable 4 months of the year and the southern part of the city is more dangerous than Iraq.

This is the only thing I agree with. But the weather man the weather. If I ever move there it would be to Cali because if in 30 degree weather I feel like dying I can think about living under that temperature.

:biggums:

30 degrees ain't that cold.

Actually, Cali is by far the state I wanna move to.:oldlol: I hate when my family from SoCal post pictures at the beach in the middle of January. It was -10 degrees as the high in Chicago earlier this year. I went to Reggie's when it was -2 degree thinking "why the **** did I leave the house?"
