I look at all of these all-time lists of great teams and they are nowhere to be found...

Bill Simmons Book of Basketball - #7
NBA Top 10 Greatest Teams - not on the list
ESPN Classic - #14

What a joke!

70-71 Bucks Team Stats

Regular Season:

Record of 66-16
SRS of 11.91 (NBA record)
MOV of 12.2 (3rd all-time behind 95-96 Bulls and 71-72 Lakers)
eFG% differential of (NBA record)

It's worth noting they were cruising near the end and finished the season 1-5 in their last 6 games. They could have won 70 games.

Playoffs:

MOV of 14.5 (NBA record)
FG% differential of 10.2 (NBA record)

And in the 71-72 season up to and including the 73-74 they were equally as dominant as the stats above when Oscar was healthy. So it's not like it was a one-year fluke...

At worst the 70-71 Bucks are top 3 team of all time.

Yeah, they were a all time great team. Too bad so many people don't know basketball history.
Right up there with the 71-72 lakers
1966-67 76er's.

That team was incredible, certainly one of the goat's and shamefully underrated.

Here's the thing.

You literally have to be 55 years old at least to appreciate what you're saying.

The year is 2014. I don't care about how underrated a team was from 1970.

I can't agree with you and I can't argue with you.

Kareem and Oscar man, co-Jesuses of Milwaukee basketball. Wish I could've watched them live.

I would not say underrated, just forgotten. Man they had a squad though. Wow. Kareem and Oscar. But what people forget is players like Bobby Dandridge (Washington Bullets days for me) and JonMcGlocklin. Great shooters and defenders.

Dandridge was a very very good player. High flying Greg Smith. Speedster Lucious Allen. Solid bench play from McLemore and Boozer. McGlocklin of course.

So is OP a senior citizen? Or do you just enjoy quoting numbers from before you were born?

Contrary to popular belief, we do exist :)

Where can you find the average MOV in the playoffs besides having to count up by yourself?

I got +12.75 MOV (+204 in 16 games) for the '01 Lakers in the Playoffs.

Edit: Nevermind. http://www.basketball-reference.com/playoffs/NBA_1971.html bball ref gives you the total points and total opponent points for each playoff.

Yeah they were victim of the Knicks team getting all the press from the previous year. And everybody calling that Knicks team one of the best ever. The Knicks were a more balanced team with more even distribution and great team dynamic. But that Bucks team still should get more attention.

Thing is the Bucks were way more dominant than that Knicks team. I think the main reason they are so overlooked is they could never be a dynasty because of injuries. If they won 2-3 titles they'd be looked at as a GOAT team among many.

No one cares

the Bill Russell Celtics are the GOAT because they are the most dominant team in NBA history in terms of championships.

You can't find the GOAT team because there are too many great teams over the years and it's hard to compare statistics from different eras, especially teams before the 80s.

Who made the better fit for Kareem, Oscar or Magic?

Or maybe if they didn't cruise in the end. Although it made no sense not to cruise back then, when they had secured the #1 seed for ages, in retrospect it seems a pity that they didn't try harder to win 70 in the end.
Or maybe if they played in N.Y. If the '70 Knicks are so revered, the '71 Bucks (with New Yorker Kareem) would be deified.

Does that apply to all of history or just basketball?
