View Full Version : I will bet you on old school (80's) NBA games, if I lose I donate to charity

So i want to learn more about old NBA legends and teams and just the league in general back then (mostly the 80's).

So I tried watching some old 80's games. But I found out that I can't really sit through them and watch the whole game without any rooting interest.

So, I want you to give me a link to an old playoff game. I will choose one team to "bet" on. If my team loses, I will donate $5.00 to a charity of my choice online and I'll post the screenshot for you. If my team wins, I get to keep the $5.00.

I figure that this is a win-win, as it'll help me increase my understanding of the game in the 80's, and along the way, $100 or so will go to charity.

Things to consider when sending me a link:

- As already mentioned, make it a 1980's playoff game. It can even be a Finals game...I don't really know much about the 80's

- Try to find a game with a link that is in good quality

- Make sure the final score is not in the title of the video or description of the video...LOL

- Make sure the whole game has links up...ie don't send me a link to a game on youtube where part 5/12 is missing for some reason

- If you can, let me know what year, round, and what game of the series the game is...I'll naturally be curious anyway (since what i am trying to do is learn more about nba history) and if you don't tell me i might just start reading the comments under the video and that'll just ruin it for me because i might end up reading a comment that gives info on who won the game

- I'd most like to watch games of these teams: Sixers, Bulls, Pistons

TLDR: Drop a link from a playoff game in the 80's. I'll tell u what team I'm riding with...if they lose, my money goes to charity

LOL. Just find me a good link to a 1980's playoff game and post it man. The worst that can happen is $5.00 goes to charity.

I was going to try to ask if anyone wanted to straight up bet with me on old school games, but that'd be ridiculous because we could just go to bballreference.com and look up the result.

Why not piratebay?

Ok. A link youtube link would be better though since it's quicker...and i also don't know if a mod would want us dropping torrent links and whatever.

We no longer exist in real life. All is now insanity.

I'm really not understanding the confusion.

I'm 99% sure all of u have put money on a some random regular season game in January to make it more interesting.

I'm doing the same thing, but it's with old games. And the money is going to a better place instead of some casino or sportsbook.

It's a win-win. I learn more about NBA history and old players, and in the process I might lose 20 times and so $100 (20 x $5.00) will go to charity.

Even if you don't understand this, just drop a link, ask me what team i am "betting" on, and then come back a day or two later and if i lost you'll see that $5.00 has moved into the hands of a needier person/organization.

And yes, i realize i could just do this by myself. I could just find a game link myself, pick a team, and if they lose i donate to charity.

But I'm not sure i would hold myself to it.

Sort of like how at the gym a few years ago i saw that i was slipping. I couldn't force myself to go the extra lap. So i started working out with a buddy who wouldn't let me slide.

Or maybe I would hold myself to it...but hey it's more fun this way.

I also don't want to do this myself because when i search for the games myself, it is more likely that i'll see the result of the game.

Anyway, I found a good one (without ever seeing the result  ). Sixers - Lakers, 1980 Finals, Game 1. I'll go with the Lakers. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6jcmGRYDryU

When I finish watching the game, I'll let you know if i won or lost.

I would rather have one of u give me a game though, so please do. I hope when i return to this thread in a day or two that i have some game links dropped for me.

cry for attention

I wanted to do this with other people, because it'd be more fun than doing it alone. So in a way, yes...but ehh not really...bcuz if you search for a chess partner instead of playing against your computer you're not really looking for attention but are looking for a real person to play against because it's more fun that way.

Well a classic game (like any of the ones they show on ESPN Classic) might hold my attention. And I'd be able to watch it all knowing that it's a classic game and something amazing is about to happen.

But for a random playoff game, I'd need something more to hold my attention.
