I was speeding 72 miles on lake shore drive, which is "45". Flow of traffic is usually 62.

went to court today to find out it is considered a misdemeanor and that i needed an attorney. The law changed last summer, obviously for revenue.

So any advice? how much do you think an attorney would cost, what about fines, penalties, and court costs?

You don't need an attorney.

Just admit your guilt and pay the fines. It would be cheaper.

Just kidding, pay the fines, get a point or two and then keep your nose clean. Fck a lawyer trial for speeding

If it's a first time offense your public defender could get the judge to bring it down to a traffic violation. That's what happened to me when I was caught racing 6 years ago.
