Per my doctor anyway. I got to see some xray pictures he took. It's weird cause I see screws and shit in my back. The first thing that popped in my head was hello mr guy that holds up the line at the metal detors lol. The second day was killer. To the point where I gad regretted even having this surgery. Friday was better and today has been good. You crazy folks on Ish have been keeping my mind preoccupied and not thinking about the pain. Thanks a milli

If you don't mind me asking, what happened that made you need the procedure? How long until you're recovered and will it have any effects on what you can do long term?

It was kinda the next thing I could try. I have degenerative disc disease so the wear and tear I put on mine became too much to deal with. They weren't getting any better with all of the physical therapy and drugs and all that. I tried it all but none worked for me. I'm not sure about the recovery time as a whole. I'll be off work for 16 weeks. They said I could play basketball in like a year. The doctor said since I'm fairly young, my recovery ciuld be a lot faster. I'm only 31

Man I was crying and everything! I was just so damn miserable. I asked my doctor why was it so bad at the time and he said because the anesthesia was finally out of my system lol. I felt better after that.

I don't really know. It's a different kind of pain. Let's say before the surgery, I couldn't roll over on my side easily if I was laying flat on my back. The pain was so intense. Now, I can do it, but the pain feels different but I'm able to do it alot easier.

Why'd you get surgery? like what happened?

I have degenerative disc disease and my last disc was completely shot and the next one upaalready showed significant signs of wear so we went ahead and did a double fusion. I'm still sore and some pain from surgery, but the pain prior to having surgery was screwing up my life. I couldn't get dressed by myself, couldn't stand up straight, couldn't do my manly duties if you follow me lol. It would all be so painful. Then last week my back locked up and I was stuck in bed for like 2 or 3 days.

I have some bad news for you. Surgery was pointless. Honestly. I really really really hope it does work for you and you stop feeling pain. However, as someone who has (had) back problems I can tell you surgery is very rarely the cure. Any reason why you chose to opt for surgery?

I ask because I hate when doctors say you have degenerative disc disease. That's utter nonsense. EVERYONE has that. It's called being older than 20 years old (I think that's when it starts to "deteriorate".

I guess the good news is that you have 16 weeks to get better. During that time I highly suggest you check out:

Watch this first:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vsR4wydiIBI

Sucks, they actually had his entire "healing" session up on youtube a few weeks ago, but got taken down due to copyright. I'd definitely recommend at least getting the book and checking out the Wiki:

http://www.tmswiki.org/ppd/The_Tension_Myositis_Syndrome_Wiki

I had all sorts of lower lower back since I was 16 to 25 (27 now). I ALWAYS thought it was a structural problem. Doctor said I had not much space between L5, S1 or wtv etc etc. I played gingerly and always was afraid to jump and land hard because my back might go out. I spasmed when I was doing squats. Basically, I could never really go hard doing athletic stuff. I had to always play at 50% and really controlled.

Now, I actually just finished playing hard hard hoops 7 days in a row. Today, is my "rest day". I didn't even once think about injuring my lower back. I went for boards, blocked shots, stopped and start and played on some shizzy concrete courts. It was great.

His teaching and my belief in it changed my life. For me it actually started with "carpal tunnel". That is what led me to his research. I became a believer right away. 20 minutes after reading his stuff my carpal tunnel basically went away. I realized that because I had stopped playing sports my stress had to manifest somewhere else. And I was stressed cuz it was the holidays and I was staying with my parents for 3 weeks. My new trigger was using a computer mouse. I could do everything else without pain, but using a mouse made my wrist, forearm, etc hurt like crazy.

Anyways, it is unlikely you'll even read this entire post. It's surprising to me how many people in America are in pain but refuse to try something a lil bit wonky. Either way, good luck to you. Back pain is absolutely debilitating. I hated feeling like an old man at 26. I could go from looking like Chris Paul out on the courts to hobbling like a 70 year old trying to do dishes or tie my shoe or simply sit on the floor.

This particular surgery wasn't my first one. I pretty much ran the gammot on everything else that could be done. My bottom disc (S1) was completely shot. It didn't have any of thr fluid inside of it. My vertebrae was starting to deteriote because they were rubbing agsijst each other on that one. The next disc up was already showing signs of wear and tear. I've always had back pain as well, but the last 2 years have been hell. The doctor I have is really really good and honest. He was straight with me about everything. I got sexond and third opinions and everything. I'll for sure check out the videos you linked though. Thanks for you input bro.

I couod jump out the gym run for days etc etc. I have gained 40 lbs and I can only shoot 3s if I even thought about playing. I'm gonna get myself back together though. Just add some to water or juice throughout the day. You can literally drink as much as you want though, can't overdose. Or you could cook with it. Look up some indian recipes.

Great for inflammation and a natural pain killer. Lots of other benefits too that will just help you in general

It was just not good at all. The staff was amazing. Food was great. The meds were awesome. it was just the bed. It would have been cool for any other surgery other than back lol.

I have health insurance through my job. I paid only like 4k out of everything. i forgot how much they told me the total price was. The surgeon is one of the best in Houston and same with the hospital. The odd part was that the hospital had their own charges for using the place and then my doctor had his charge. I thought it would be 1 bundled price.
