I was just hearing "I dont wanna miss a thing", and really I just cant see anyone singing the song better than Steven Tyler. This song holds great meaning to me since its my girlfriend and I;s song, so I've heard many versions, and it has been sung a lot by other singers, but no one comes close to the original imo.

thoughts?

Most Bob Dylan songs. I know a lot of people hate his voice but no one can do Dylan songs like Dylan can. They're all too personal.

Like, the Byrds' version of Mr. Tambourine man. I'd probably say their cover version is more popular than the Dylan original, but the two aren't even close in terms of greatness.

Dylan covered it.

He wrote they song, didn't like it, gave it to the Byrds and when it became a hit he did a cover of his own songs.

Hendrix did awesome renditions of Dylan's songs, much to the lliking of Dylan himself.

Nobody can lay a hand on Tyler, his singing is too unique.

Pretty much any song by Jonas Brothers is inimitable. Nick has a godly voice that basically shames any so-called "lead singer" in rock history and really kind of transcends music itself. Its sort of a religious experience just to listen to it frankly.

Yea, that's not true at all.

Dylan didn't dislike Mr. Tambourine Man at all. In fact, he was very impressed with it at the time he wrote it, and delayed releasing it for about a year after he first recorded it because he thought that the initial recording didn't do the song justice.

The Byrds heard an early acetate of the song and recorded a cover of it before it was released. Their version was released after Dylan's original.

And Steven Tyler is a mediocre singer who barely even sings; he "speak-sings" most of Aerosmith's songs.

Although you're right that Hendrix did do great covers.

I don't think I've ever been truly impressed by a Metallica cover. Hetfield's voice is very distinct and works so well on those songs. I've heard other artists that were strong vocally but they just lacked that certain something that puts them close to the original songs.

Freddie's vocal range and style are very difficult to exactly duplicate by others.

This thread starts and ends with James Brown.

No one and I mean no one could properly do any of his material any justice. most unique voice ever.

Hard to imagine anyone singing "It's a Man's World" or "Big Payback" as soulful as him.

Yep, came in here to say Queen but beat me to it and as mentioned Freddie Mercury's voice was very unique and hard to duplicate.

I think Tina Turner and her gruff voice could pull off a Rod Stewart song very well. Maybe even Kim Carnes.

I could picture them singing "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy" or "Young Hearts" pretty easily.

All Along The Watchtower by Jimi Hendrix > Bob Dylan's version.
I **** you not I had a conversation with a Dylan fan who not only thought Hendrix's version was horrible, but when I told him that Dylan himself thought it was better than his original, the fan proceeded to call Dylan an idiot.

Anyway, on topic, it's a tough one but I can't see anyone properly doing Bon's AC/DC stuff where he's really cranking it up (Kicked in the Teeth, Highway to Hell, Gone Shooting, etc.). Brian Johnson does it regularly and while he does well, there's no comparison.
