Oklahoma City Thunder guard Russell Westbrook has been on a minutes restriction since his return in February from knee surgery, and coach Scott Brooks plans to keep the star from playing in some back-to-back situations, too.

The Thunder, who haven't played Westbrook more than 31 minutes in the previous 10 games, will play six sets of back-to-back games in the final month of the NBA season.

Brooks said Westbrook would definitely sit for some of them.

"There's going to be some back-to-backs he's not going to play," Brooks told reporters. "We definitely have a plan in place."

Brooks added that Westbrook's "conditioning is great."

"We just want to get some time, while we still can, where he can rest in between games," the coach said.

Westbrook is averaging 21.5 points per game this season.

And Mr Durability is now sitting back-to-backs

it's hard to stay healthy in this league, Rose now WB, two possibly transcendent players who may never reach their peaks due to injury

Completely different scenarios, WB came back and looked like and played like his old self. Rose came back and played like a scrub.

Westbrook is fine. We've seen him tear the league a new asshole since his return. This is just precautionary as they don't want a repeat of what happened last time he returned and miss another playoff series.

Should be good for KDs MVP chances
they are 24-5 w/o Westbrook anyways

If he makes it through the rest of the year I like Westbrook's chances of regaining his former health. Has to be careful though.

I wouldn't want to risk not having Westbrook for another playoffs either. The more rest he gets before postseason the better.

Westbrook better be healthy for the playoffs. We know what happens when Durant is by himself

KD choked last year, every game in that Memphis series was close and he sucked all-around, even from the FT line :facepalm

I think he's grown & if he was in the same situation without Westbrook against Memphis, OKC wins in 5-6.

He came down funny on a drive in the Lakers game, he hobbled a little but acted like it was nothing. I think it may have been a twisted ankle. He definitely needs to rest a little.

Kevin Durant is great without Westbrook in the regular season but he'll need Westbrook healthy for playoffs cause he already proved he can't do it all by himself for a 7 game series

Neither player was transcendent. Neither were ever going to be a top 30 all time type talent, they were just slashing guards who look to score first in the mold of Marbury or Francis, albeit with a brain. Hell Tim Hardaway started the trend.

Nobody can.. It's why Lebron went to Miami.

I noticed that. Was scared as ****. But then of course dude shook it off like the tank he is and continued to play his ass off.

Was thinking I was gonna wake up to "Westbrook out for the season with torn MCL"

Westbrook's ailments were avoidable. That's the distinct difference.

Phoenix is currently 9th in the Western Conference standings, and have no chance to supersede the Grizzlies or Warriors. Doubt they surpass Dirk's Mavs either.

Let's face it. The Suns should have traded for Gasol. Dragic isn't good enough to lead his team anywhere as the #1 option. The Suns are going to end up missing the playoffs with a shitty draft pick.

Oh well.

Jason Terry was definitely the third best player in that series not to mention ridiculous 3 point shooting. So Dirk had help.

When your teammates are all knocking down threes and your second option is outplaying Lebron, who cares? :lol

I like that. Westbrook has played well. Lets get the role players some run to prepare for the playoffs. Cant afford to just rely on KD and Westbrook when defenses get tougher in the playoffs.

Can't wait to rely on Serge Ibaka, Caron Butler, and Derek Fisher in the playoffs.
