Just a total disgrace to the game. It's hard to even blame the official, because he sold it so well and it was a play where guys do often get taken out of position by little discrete shoves in the back.

If the NBA were smart, it would make an example out of Wade. Huge fine, then a suspension if it happens again, regardless of playoffs, regular season, whatever...

I know this kind of stuff happens a lot around the league and it certainly isn't just about Wade, but usually guys will at least have to get touched before they go flying in the air. Embellishment is one thing. This was flat-out deception.

There's no place in the game for it. Have a little pride, Dwyane.

Bit of an overreaction.
He was jumping in the air and Dwight pushed him slightly while he was off balance. He then accentuated it.
Anything looks worse watching a gif 50 times on a single angle favouring the OP's agenda (who is psychotically against the Heat).
In reality it happened once in a split second, and it was pretty minor.

I give Wade the benefit of the doubt, especially since everything is assumed to be a flop to people now a days.

He was about to jump straight up, and in that situation any slight push right at the point where you're starting to go up can will cause a person to go forward.

Flops also usually happen when the flopper gets to see the defender and react. In this case Wade only sees a very potential rebound and not what Howard is doing. The more natural reaction is to go up for that rebound that's right there.

agree but stop blaming the players. They are just trying to win at any cost. League should increase the fine. Why do people hate players for trying to do anything to win the game unless they are trying to injure someone from the other team.

Do you think it is weird and extremely coincidental that the 2006 finals have been so scrutinised and Mark Cuban was so vocal about the fact it was unfairly officiated. Then in 2011 when the whole WORLD hated the Heat, they magically end up in a rematch with the Mavericks and the Mavs get redemption?

That sounds so fabricated it's hilarious.

Then to add to that, Lebron lost in the finals to the Spurs with the Cavs and, you guessed it, they end up in a rematch and Lebron gets his redemption? How does that shit just 'happen'?

This x100.. It's not the players fault it's the leagues fault for allowing this nonsense to continue.. Players only do it because they see other players being successful doing it, if the league would of put an end to this a long time ago we wouldn't have 1000 threads discussing flops. Heat were a top team and mavs and spurs were among the elite teams in those years. Spurs were clearly the favorites to come out of the west after westbrook got hurt. you sound like NBA rigged it for mavs or the heat when last year's finals and ECF/WCF were the most fairly officiated playoff games in a long time.

The ECF finals weren't fairly officiated. They practically changed a rule to allow Hibbert to dominate around the rim on defence.

People are stupid when they think the NBA is rigged so obviously and one sidedly. Yeah they wanted the Heat to win, but they want it to be entertaining. They call bullshit calls all game on both sides, it keeps the games even up until the last few minutes, then with a minute to go both teams even, you see one team start to get all the calls.

Fact is the Heat had to overcome the refs in both the ECF and the Finals. All stats point to this and it was never more evident to me than in the third quarter of game 6 of the Finals. Fact is the Heat had to overcome the refs in both the ECF and the Finals. All stats point to this and it was never more evident to me than in the third quarter of game 6 of the Finals. Refs wanted the series to finish right there and then.

You think they are stupid about it? They call stupid calls all game to keep it even, then with a minute to go one team magically starts getting all the calls

fines against the player will not deter this type of shit. the NBA should punish the ref also. flops are for weak hearted refs.
Some flops might be obvious but most that go in favor of the flopper are done in a way that makes it hard for the ref to see. i don't blame the refs for those. refs make bad calls but most flops i see that go in flopper's favor are usually very hard to see for the refs.
The only way to stop flopping is to make the fine start at 25k at least and increase it by 20k for every next flop in the season including the playoffs. if a player flops 20 times a year and lets say gets fined 10 times out of those by the league then he pays about a million in fines plus the 10th time he gets fined it would make a nice headline "X player gets fined 200+k for flopping" which hurts the player's reputation more than money could. small fines go unnoticed and don't make good headlines for ESPN.
I must say again though. Flopping according to me is when player reacts in a way like he got fouled when their was no foul on the play. i don't have problem with players overselling the contact if they were actually fouled.

flops are false movements that invite a ref to make a judgement. it is basically testing their intelligence. they are selling a body movement that interferes with the flow of a game, at crucial points. the ref blew his whistle and he saw something. now let him explain what he saw.

And people wonder why people complain about the NBA so much and would rather watch football, hockey or baseball.

because NBA fans are some of the worst and worship players more than fans of any other team sport?
NBA fans bitch about lebron and for the first time spurs got a great finals ratings because they were playing the heat when spurs have been great in all their finals.
when you stop NBA "true" fans from doing that then you can start bitching about the flopping.

If there was any influence Kobe has made in the NBA today, besides anti-clutch play in any context of clutchness, it's flopping like the .gif in OP. What a shame.

I saw the thread title and thought it was about Wade's patented "let me get my defender to go straight up, then I"ll jump in to him and get a shooting foul call".

Certainly my least favorite active player. I've got no problem with doing (almost) whatever it takes to win, but I consider flops cheating. Not cool with that. I know it's on the refs, too, but it's just another form of lying. And Wade is one of the worst.

Love to see the NBA bring down the hammer... Wade, Paul, Harden, etc.. all the more popular floppers... suspended for maybe 10-20 games. Then the refs suspended and forced to take some sort of course to more accurately differentiate between fouls and flops.

would you also do that to players who get away with elbowing a player in the stomach while in the post because that happens a lot more than flopping and helps teams more while exhausting the other player. That is called hard basketball by the "real" basketball fans.
Those are very hard to tell and in most cases impossible for refs to catch. lets suspend players for that too along with players who set illegal screen all the time like one lebron set against rockets. they are also lying given that they know that they are moving while setting the screen and it is worse than flopping because if the other player is moving really fast then it hurts a lot too.

this was a bad flop indeed but just to be fair a couple of minutes earlier Howard pusehd the Birdman in his back and got an easy dunk. So at the end of the day they're even :D

This one deserves a suspension, at least the others are in context and are either grossly exaggerated small fouls, or close to a foul

Chris Paul is a cowardly bltch

Is that really the only way to stop flopping? How about a zero tolerance for bullshit policy? Start at a suspension and more for each flop. The warning was already given. Ignore the warning and miss out. ****** will stop flopping for sure.
