View Full Version : "Their best player is still Chris Paul" - Sam Mitchell

Sam Mitchell just said this on NBATV. He may be the one taking the final shot but I don't know if he is a better player than a guy like Griffin who is a legit dominant front court player.

Let's put it this way... he has meant more to the Clippers franchise than Blake has.

It's too close to call from a strictly basketball standpoint but Paul is the clear leader of that team.

Honestly who cares. Basketball fans give too much of a shit about "who's in charge." Pay attention to the team.

Chris Paul single handily won them the Utah game two nights ago

I'll pay attention to whatever I want to pay attention to. Many people care, that's why it's talked about. Not hard to figure out..

CP3 is their best player but that gap is definitely shrinking

How is this even a debate? CP3 is clearly the best player on the Clippers.

Might have something to do with griffin winning player of the month awards over and over while cp3 isn't?

Griffin is more important to their success. Sure CP3 had seniority when he came to the team but it is clear to me that it is Blake Griffin's time to shine.

The way I see it is, CP3 had his chances to lead the team and he failed. It's Blake's turn , we'll see if they get past the second round with Blake in charge

I will say Griffin is their best player right now. But CP3 is their "leader" and floor general. Please give credit when it's due. Griffin is playing like the 3rd best player in the NBA (Behind Durant and Lebron).

What? Stop. No.

Goddamn people take this "top option" mentality way too far. The Clippers aren't going anywhere unless Griffin and Paul are playing at the top of their respective games (as the last two postseasons have proven). Also, they could stand to stop losing every other guard they have on their roster.

What? Stop. No.

CP3 didn't singlehandedly transform that franchise into a perennial playoff team over night?

Do tell.

I'd say this. Clippers make the playoffs this year without CP3 thanks to Griffin's emergence, but the two seasons prior?

Not a chance.

Blake Griffin is clearly the best player on the LAC.

Well CP3 definitely did better in the playoffs last year, but Blake's been better as of late.

Sure, he did.

But after drafting Blake, $$$ went drastically up, and I doubt Sterling approves the CP deal without cashing in prior.

Clippers will go nowhere if CP3 is their best player. Griffin has to be the man in order for the Clippers to go anywhere in the Playoffs.

They're both great, in previous years I woulda said yea for sure but right now im not sure but like to think of it like they both equally as important, being a clipps fan just want them both killin it not competing for top dog

This is true. Winning Griffin changed their fortune as an organization, but Paul took them to new heights on the court. At least, new in terms of consistency, Sam and co. took them there for one year.

chris paul is a better player than blake griffin period....lets just kill that noise right now...

as for who is more important on the team? blake griffin is very important to how the clippers are run...and effective....another thing is DEANDRE JORDAN is the reason the clippers are so good...blake would just be scoring more but DEANDRE JORDAN is the reason the clippers are in the position they are in...and people need to give this guy the credit he is due...

Chris Paul is still the 3rd best player in the game (second depending on health and scoring mentality)

Blake griffin is climbing up to being the best PF in the game.

The Clippers need both at the top of their games to win it all....and I see that they are starting to do that at the right time.

You understand without Griffin this franchise is basically still fighting for a lottery pick, right?

CP3 never comes here if we don't have Griffin. Blake brought the Clippers back to relevance.

Clippers - CP3 = Minnesota Timberwolves
I don't actually believe that.

Blake was doing great and winning without CP3 a while ago so it is really close, just shows how far Griffin has come.
