View Full Version : Spurs first to 50 wins... again

Only 3 things happen every year: death, taxes and the Spurs winning 50 games. They are, once again, the first team to reach 50 wins. This will now mark the 1,345th time in a row the Spurs have won at least fifty games in a season.
10-game winning streak; - likely - 2 games ahead of OKC. They just won't go away...

And they would have won 50 in '99 had it not been a strike-shortened season.

I just made a thread on this lol. You know the thing I find the most impressive? When they won 50 games in the second lockout season.
There were only 66 total games, yet they still won 76% of their games and were the only team to hit the 50 win mark

Since 1997-98 season, Coach Pop, Tim Duncan and the Spurs have the best winning percentage over any 15-year span in NBA history at .702 (830-352) and have the best record in the four major professional sports (NBA, NFL, MLB, NHL) during this time period.

What's there not to get? They have won 50 games for each of the past 1345 seasons. 1345 years. Fundamentals too much for you?

That season, after 21 games, they had a record of 12-9. Finished 38-7.

Parker at 30 mpg, and Duncan and Leonard at 29. No one else above 25. And look at the games missed, too.
Pop is just a pure basketball coaching genius.
Arguably the greatest ever.

no man. he sometimes goes missing in important games but he is an absolute beast and the way he finishes his drives is unmatched in the NBA at the guard position:bowdown:

Yes, he's a beast in the regular season but he's one of the worst playoff performers of his era. People shit on Robinson for being a post-season choke artist but Tony takes the cake in that regard.

Except when he swept one of the best players of all-time for FMVP of course. And when he breezed his team to the Finals last year. And of course his PPG go up in the playoffs, but yah he's a choker. Except for his Game 1 clincher and Game 6 clinching sequence. Next time he should be coach also so he can bench Ginobili when he's having the only 8-turnover game of his career in Game 6. Parker choked at not being coach and not being trainer, because he didn't get his injury healed in time for Game 7.

His play kept his team in the game.
Parker, Green and Manu choked.
Ah, judging by your title I'm assuming you're a sour Knicks fan?

How bad did Parker choke considering his injury was getting worse every game and considering the ridiculously clutch last 2 minutes of Game 6? I mean, the guy was doing everything he possibly could to close the game out with the step-back game-tying 3, the steal, the go-ahead leaner, the second steal, and the outlet to Manu for a 4 point lead? The guy single-handedly sealed a 5th title. I consider what Manu did (his only 8-turnover game of his career) a choke.
