Maybe Phil will keep Melo in NY. Seems likely, Melo's got mad respect for the guy.

Amare wants to have a conversation with Phil.

"From a basketball standpoint, he's a great mind to dissect," Stoudemire said. "And also from a spiritual standpoint, he is known as the Zen guy, so that would be great to sit down and have a great conversation with him."

no pun intended

Phil Jackson carries this gravitas with him that influences those around him. Jim Buss made a grave mistake when he chose D'Antoni over Phil Jackson. Should he have opted for the latter, Dwight would have stayed and Kobe's chemistry with Dwight would have flourished. But such is life.

What does it matter? He is going to Chicago, Houston, and Miami next year anyway.

This is like his 10th season, changing his game is very unlikely.

He's one of the best offensive scorers in the game, Top 3 scorers. He just needs a smarter GM to build a good team around him. Or go to a team who is missing that go-to scorer to get to the top, i.e. Chicago.

Right because he was so good at getting Shaq and Kobe to play along... oh wait, he wasn't. he even admitted he fanned the flames...

He later admitted he was wrong but still, the damage was done

"Melo will make big changes, in the past where he would jack up shots without even looking for an open team mate now he will look for the open man, ignore him, and then jack up the shot anyway"

Melo has already become a much better player, He is getting double the blocks of LeBrick for christ's sake. All whilst having not even half the athleticism. 1.2 steals a game is very good as well. He is also getting a heck of a lot more assist opporunities than his actual assist number that shows up cuz guys just aren't hitting shots. I think he just needs to play in a better offensive system than the crap that Woody throws at him.

Meaning Phil was carried by to success by the superior overall talent of his teams.

Jordan retired in his prime with Phil as his coach. Some persuasive ability Phil had.

Kobe and Shaq feuded all the way to a breakup, which Phil helped instigate. Phil left and wrote a book trashing both of them.

Phil watched a Lakers team that still had championship talent disintegrate prematurely a second time due to personality clashes.

On top of the fact that he really has no track record of being any sort of shrewd tactician as an actual coach. He picks his spots, sure. Lets great talent do its thing. That's not gonna work with these Knicks. We'll see how "savvy" he really is when it comes to assembling a team without a collection of the eras dominant players each time.
