He is the only thing preventing the Pelicans from being dead last. Their team defense is horrible, but Davis' ability to alter shots is quite incredible. I've noticed that some of the time players put higher arcs on their shot because he comes over, and you just can't teach that kind of defensive impact.

He will be an all time great defender.

Because one man can only do so much. With that said, people tend to look at blocks and steals and overrate a player defensively, happens with AD as well, he's already pretty good but also still has ways to go, crazy potential though.

I think Anthony Davis has amazing potential as a defender, but he is currently not one of the top 5 or even 10 defensive players in the league because he still gets pushed around a lot inside and needs to learn the nuances of the game. His ceiling is incredible, so I bet we start to see marked improvement in the team stats over the next few years - although he is certainly limited to some extent by his cast.

It doesnt matter how good defensively AD is. you need a good defensive system and good coaching to be a good defensive team.

AD can make all the right defensive rotations and defensive plays but if your teammates dont make the 2nd or 3rd rotations they will be AWFUL defensively.
