An uprising is different from a coup which is different from a foreign invasion.
And the word uprising has meant a popular revolt for over 400 years. (http://www.etymonline.com/index.php?term=uprising)
sense of "insurrection, popular revolt" first attested 1580s.

yep. coup - forced/sudden change of leadership
