View Full Version : Phil Jackson is washed up and wont accomplish anything with the knicks.

He was one of the greatest coaches, but every man has to learn that we loose our talents and ambition when we get older. Basketball players suck when they get older, so do coaches, so does every man that was great at something. Phil Jackson isnt changing the Knicks.

How is he washed up? He just coached the Lakers to the finals in '08, and back to back championships in 2009 and 2010. Pretty recent.

He's not coaching again. He's going to be sitting behind the scenes this time and putting together a team. Way easier than sitting on the sidelines coaching.

This thread is stupid.

I wish Phil Jackson had come to the Bulls and replaced Forman. Bulls already have a great coach with Thibs, and they're more ready than the Knicks to potentially win a championship soon. Phil could have come to Chicago and this summer helped them sign a big star like Melo.

are you serious? NO. forman is a big reason why we have a great team now. Hes responsible for drafting taj gibson, jimmy butler, and getting rid of that non effective loul deng.

I don't think you know anything about life if your argument is centered around losing ambition as you get older/getting worse at everything when you're older. Someone is obviously 15. Do I really need to list people who got better with age or will you take the loss and move on?

I think he won't make as big a difference as knicks fans are making out

but at the same time how can a front office staff member be washed up? Did he go deaf or something? Can't he hear his scouts? Has his dialing speed decreased and he cant' use a phone anymore? Can't he read reports and memos?

Phil doesn't even want to be the President of this franchise nor make them better. He just joined for the absurd contract the Knicks foolishly offered him. That's really what forced him out of retirement, not the fact that the job was lucrative and available. Because of that, I can't see Phil making much of an impact.

Do you think Dolan paid Phil $12m a year because he wanted to? No, that is what Phil demanded for his services. That just tells me that his primary goal was to leech as much money as he could for as long as he could from the Knicks because he knew they were in desperation mode. Phil Jackson- committed the biggest robbery on the Knicks franchise.:oldlol:

I listened to his formal introduction today... he addressed the media. After hearing his plans and the approval of the owner, I feel supremely confident that this team is gonna make a lot of noise in 2 years. Condolences to the teams that lost out on hiring him (there were a few). You can see the jealousy welling up in the haters in here... and I can't wait until it's Phil who's luring those superstar free agents in 2015. Oh yeah, it's gonna happen :applause:

Phil Jackson never had a losing season in the NBA as a head coach. Knicks have 10 losing seasons in the last 13 seasons, including this year.

Phil will definitely do a better job in this new position, but let's calm down about Finals and championship talk.

This has been a difficult week for Nets fans. No one cares about their upcoming first round out. They traded three years of picks for Garnett, who apparently they play better without. And there "free agent bonanza" has them in NY with Phil Jackson (with Melo) as the Knicks ambassador, and Billy King (and Deron) as the Nets counterpart. Good luck with that.

But hey, you have your two weeks in the playoffs where all the attention will be yours, unless Phil walks down the street, in which case you'll need to wait till he's done (unfortunately Dude walks slow....)

I like how everyone acts like he has no Knick ties all of a sudden. Either you're all stupid, salty, or your sense of history is bad.

There is not such thing as washed up for coaches as it doesn't require any physical ability. The only thing he needs is to be mentally fit and sound.

So it's good even if he doesn't turn out to be a good "consultant"? :oldlol:

Like i've been saying he could be good, he could be bad. But there are real risks that he isn't going to work hard and/or give a crap, and that he's going to bring in his buddies rather than the right people for the job.

And :oldlol: at people saying that if Melo resigns it was all worth it.

I wish the Knicks the best, but i'm leery about giving a guy with nothing left to prove that kind of money and no real job description. I'm jaded though. My Browns did that.

he organizes people

just like many , but paid handsomely , means he does it better than anyone...

That said Dolan has an advantage

Jax , knows the NBA , players needs and wants and desires.

----------

I'll give you an example , Bucks Kohl and Hammond want players that are religous , and have community values.
That being said , they have great people players , but little killer instinct like an Iverson had as a gangster.

Jax , knows how to locate players that are hard nosed and will do anything to win games.
NY will be a good place.

However I still think Melo doesn't have all or nothing attitude.
A scorer without a Dfence is only a points gate keeper.

At this point what the Knicks achieve its based or revolves around Melo. If he leaves when we get Phil that alone shows his fear and little hope in ownership and the organization

Yeah, when someone's as toxic as Kobe is in the locker room, he had a legitimate reason to want to trade him. He's been on record to why he wanted to trade him.
