Nothing pseudo about 13 championship rings.

What would be the next level for Melo? The only thing his game is missing is better defense and winning. Ideally he wouldn't ball stop so much, but that's what his game is built around and he's actually good at it.

As someone said before, defense is the only thing missing from Melos game. I'm not sure what Phil can do in the front office to get Melo to start hustling 36 minutes per game

Melo will be 30 next year. He's not adding anything new to his game as far as I can see. Maybe pass more, but really nothing else. The man's game as hardly changed that much during the course of his career.

It will be a huge difference. Phil will change the spots on the floor that Carmelo operates from. Not handling from the perimeter all the time.

Carmelo is built for the triangle

...

Do you people think Phil was hired to coach or something?

He's going to be sitting in LA 90% of the time, watching games on TV or answering media questions once a week. The end.

Unless Phil is somehow cloning and bringing some of the greats he's coached in the past with him I don't think Melos situation will change all that much....
Phil's a great basketball mind, but let's not act like the knicks have improved their roster, cap situation or draft situation. THey still have a god aweful roster with not much relief in the short term future.

Very wrong, he is a wayyyy better shooter and much better defender.

Melo getting up there with age, but I think it's has more to do with putting the right pieces around him opposed to him getting better individually..he's pretty much who he is and has been, but if they finally put the right pieces and the right coach I think he'll be so much better overall
