I dont know if I can pinpoint a clear smartest poster. Theres some posters that are well educated in specific fields, some wittier writers, some well versed in general culture, and im sure there's a few who have great logic and mathematical minds which doesn't necessarily stand out on a message board overrun by simpletons.

I always think people like Rufuspaul are smart, they give opinions, they are informed, they don't try to cite random places to prove their points (the Rambo syndrome, i found a paragraph on the internet in a random place that agrees, therefore I am right). and they can discuss things in a rational manner.

I think primetime is actually pretty smart. but because his ideas don't mesh with other people's he's never mentioned in these type of threads.
J$ does, and he deserves to be mentioned. He's always searching for knowledge and fascinated with the most obscure things.
GTS is probably one of the only people I actually have gained knowledge from because he can relate his thoughts well in a way it doesn't make me feel dumb.

As a guy who has pretty much argued with everybody in here, I think I am in the best position to give out a factual assessment of the level of smartness (or lack thereof) that permeates in this forum. I don't think anyone can be defined as the smartest; I think there are degrees of intelligence.

1. This is the top of the totem pole. The smartest posters I've encountered in here are not only informed but are freelance thinkers. By freelance thinking, I mean they are not restricted to any preconceived notions of truth. They have a strong background in education, is an expert on the subject because it is their job or passion, and above all has the ability to research a topic thoroughly before they respond. Knowing the rules of logic is a plus, but since not a lot of people are versed in this area, I'll let it slide. Dresta is easily in this group; Miller Time and Schliver has shown some potential but they usually come off as inauthentic due to their lack of wisdom. J$ is in a class of his own.

2. This group has all the above characteristics but they are restricted to a one sided perspective of truth. Their knowledge comes from books, education, news, authority, etc. They cannot think on their own because they do not have a strong philosophical background to allow them to think on their own. Regardless they are smart; they do their homework, but they are still restricted from their own ego because of this preconceived notion of reality that makes them too arrogant to question the basis of their own thinking. Kevnyc, rufuspaul, niko, redattackblack, rezznor, myth, rake all comes to mind.

3. Last but not least the trolls. The only reason why they troll you is because you have offended them in some sort of way. I know me calling someone a dumba*s after I have proven them wrong is me just asking to be trolled. What I have failed to realize is there are a bunch of kids in here who take this sh*t so seriously they would go out of their way to derail every post you make and every thread you created. I mean it's just plain out chilidish. Nathanjizzle, Ramone, Mr Big, etc. are just flat out trolls. They can't engage in any discussion; they sound dumb as f*ck when they try to make a point, and worse is I sincerely don't think these guys have had a proper english education to communicate in a comprehensible manner online. They're just f*ckin retarded and lack the proper social online skills to function as normal person.

P.S. If you're not on this list, then you prob haven't engaged with me enough for me to evaluate your level of intelligence. It's not a bad thing. Some of you are here for the fun of it (which is cool) and can care less about some of these deep discussions, so don't take it the wrong way - just be glad you're not on the #3 list because then you know you are pretty f*ckin dumb.

People who proclaim themselves as smart are usually not very smart. The start of philosophy is by a simple phrase, "The only thing I know is that I know nothing." Socrates was considered by many to be the smartest man at the time but he did everything in his power to prove he wasn't. It was only when he could not prove he wasn't the smartest, he finally conceded to a title which he hated.

Why? Because if you think you are smart, then you are not going to be driven to be smarter than everybody else. You already think you are smart, so you're going block out the opinions of other people in order to rationalize your own position.

Being smart is not a destination; the smartest people are the ones who actively find ways to gain knowledge and keep on improving, and yes, it really starts with the phrase, "The only thing I know is that I know nothing." The only way you will dig at a deeper level of truth is to let go of the ones you thought were true and start from scratch.
