View Full Version : Does Lebron still have any chance to still win the MVP?
KDthunderup

As the stats stand currently.
KD: 31.9ppg, 7.7rpg 5.5 ast, 1.3 stl, 0.8 blk on 50.8 FG% 40.3 3FG%
50-18 record in the West, 23-9 Without Westbrook (14 games left)
Lebron: 27ppg, 6.9rpg, 6.4 ast, 1.6 stl 0.3 blk on 57.2 FG% 38.3 3fg%
46-20 record in the East, 9-6 without Wade (16 games left)
KD is currently on streak of 33 straight games with 25+ points and currently holds the biggest winshares lead in over a decade
So does Lebron have any chance in hell of winning the MVP still?
I say no.

No.
That stretch where they lost 5 of 6 was a dagger at Lebron's chances.

Its still possible but hes pretty far back at the moment. If he finishes on a kevin durant like 40 point streak and the heat heat finish on a roll he would win mvp.

He had his chance during his hot streak and Thunder struggle with Russell back, but now the ship has long sailed.

Definitely, but I don't think it'll happen. KD is the MVP as of today and rightfully so. In order for LeBron to win (most likely):

Lebron would have to rack up like 5-6 straight games with 40 points to have a shot at this point.

I believe its possible but i doubt itl happen. KD is going to keep dominating. He has to have alot of bad games while Lebron has alot of good games. Not going to happen

It's KD's to lose at this point.
Realistically nah. Thus far kd has had an amazing season and by his standards bron had a solid season but nothing special

How is it possible for LeBron* NOT to be beasting given how incredibly piss poor the eastern conference is? Dude should be having a field day every time he plays against any team that isn't Indiana or Chicago.

What?
Eastern Conference is a joke. Why is LeBron* still struggling? If he's supposed to be a top 5 player of all time (yeah right) than why isn't a 6'8" monster putting up insane numbers on arguably one of the weakest eastern conferences of all time?

It depends. If he has a 50/40/90 season he will be MVP. And LeBron says he could do that if he wanted to and I'm sure he wants to so it will happen.

Too many Lebron's stans on the media to say that it's already Durant's.
If Lebron does anything good and get the better record (even though he plays in a much worse conference) he'll get it.

Honestly, if the Heat would have taken Indian's #1 spot, then he would have a much better shot. Plus he had that stretch where he averaged only 20ppg for 3-4 games after the 61 game

LOL, wut? His current season, statistically, is better than all but one or two of Kobe's.
Unless Durant turns into PG and LeBron averaged 40 PPG for the rest of the season, there's no way in hell that he's winning it.

Lebron could go on a truly dominant stretch and let's say the teams end up with the same record and Durant would still win it. He'll win it no matter what because of voter fatigue. Lebron's won 4 out of 5 of the last MVP's...he's not getting it no matter what.
That doesn't mean I don't think Durant deserves it...he absolutely does. I just think voter fatigue makes it a certainty.

So regular season does count... let's count MVPs
LeBron - 4
Kobe - 1
KD - 1 (as of this year)
So LeBron > Kobe = KD...
Doesn't work for me. We all know KD > Kobe. See my usertext.
LeBron > KD > Kobe
And piggy back rings don't count
If you go back from the start and look at the MVP race each week (NBA.com) you will see that Lebron/Durant were ahead of eachother in this fashion monthly:
October/November - 1. Lebron 2. Durant
December - 1. Lebron 2. Durant
January - 1. Durant (massive gap here) 2. Lebron
February - 1. Lebron 2. Durant
March - 10 games so far, Lebron was #1 at the start, then it quickly changed during that 5 game loss, KD is right now #1)
I dont think everybody really knows or appreciates how close this MVP race has been at this point really (except for January).... its maybe the closest MVP race we have seen in about 20+ years.... yes Lebron still has a chance, if Lebron goes after it these last few games he could do it...
But its more likely Lebron will sit out a couple of more games preparing for playoffs and even though there will be somewhat of a "voter fatigue" case this season aswell Kevin Durant would have still deserved it imo, nothing to ponder about there.
