Whats his NBA Ceiling?

Johnny Jones

Adam Morrison

I will say Mike Miller by the way.

His ceiling is like a more well rounded Kyle Korver.

Hoping Presti trades up and get this dude, he'd shoot close to 45% from deep with all the open looks he'd get in OKC.

Should be a pretty sound offensive player in the league, but he's garbage on defense.

Mike Miller/Jared Dudley with Boozer like defense.

Right now on offense he looks like David Lee inside the perimeter and anytime he gets even a decent 3pt look he drills it like Kyle Korver.

Been saying it all season...

18-20 ppg, 6-8 rpg at the 3 spot.

But the thing with him is, he doesnt rely on athleticism, he relies on fundamentals. Hes game is pure and refined. He understands the offense, he makes great cuts, hes an excellent free throw shooter. He has size. He defends with angles.

He'll have a long career.

Because Mike Miller is known for his defense..

I think he will be a safe pick. His ceiling is a 3rd option on a good team.

Larry Bird is usually the go to guy when making comparisons for White players. Don't see why this should be any different.

Larry Bird.

Best case: Peak Bird

Beat me to it.

I remember seeing a ridiculous comparison for Mike Dunleavy Jr coming out of college... and it said Larry Bird

Glad stupid analysts stopped making such comparisons.

Tough to say. Not the MOST athletic, but he's scrappy and is focused on the fundamentals. High BBIQ.

I'm thinking a better Kyle Korver? Perhaps a taller JJ Redick?

Thats stupid. Reverse racism at it's finest. A better Kyle Korver? The greatest scorer in NCAA Mens BB history is gonna be Kyle Korver. Stupid.

Slow
Can't Jump
Elite fundamentals
Unstoppable post moves
Wet jumper
Great court vision
Fiery leader

never seen defenses be so stupid when guarding one guy. This guy gets so many open looks its ridiculous. How do you leave him open? :lol

Idk how good he can be. If he has the same kind of offense built around him like he does at Creighton where he runs off 100 screens, he can be successful...but the shot clock is only 24 seconds so it would be hard to implement as successfully

yall underrating McDermott...he can shoot the lights out and he has decent size. It's just that he's kind of a tweener. I don't see him at the 4 and I don't think he can stick 3s. If Chandler Parsons had his skill set he'd be top 3 in the league

Troy Murphy :lol

Haven't heard that name in a while, to compare that ****ing piece of human garbage to Doug is an insult to the basketball gods.

Reasonably I think Doug will be a multiple time all star, maybe he won't quite reach peak Birds dominance but I think a peak of 27/10/5 on great %'s is reasonable.

If you want to compare him to a scrubby white player, then lets say he's a taller Kirk Hinrich with better shooting, post moves, court vision, passing, leadership, etc.

FYI he's gonna end up in OKC. They are going to trade up both of their first rounders and possibly package that in with some cash and a prospect to get McDermott. I've been following this situation too closely to think otherwise. Presti has been scouting this dude for years, which is usually the case with OKC's draftees.

Lots of NBA brass at Cal tonight to watch Creighton F Doug McDermott, including OKC's Sam Presti, Hornets' Dell Demps and G State Bob Myers.

Doug's favorite team is the Thunder.

OKC has been trying to acquire someone to fill the "sniper" role for years. Drafting/Trading for Jeremy Lamb, Alex Abrines, and Grant Jerrett. With vets they went after Dorrell Wright and Mike Miller. They just acquired Caron Butler. They are going to finally get a sniper in McDermott in this years draft. He's going to play the 3 in smallball lineups for OKC based off of what I've heard around the organization.

I'd if I had to take a guess I think he might have a similar career to Al Harrington except Doug is a better offensive player.

Doug has above average defense. Thats why he stayed a 4th year instead of jumping after his junior season. To better his defense.

Hes solid all around.

Don't be surprised if McDermott outlast some of the more hyped players in this coming draft. He should have a solid career. He will probably have a slow start though.
