I look forward to watching this later. Though, opening with Terry Tyler kind of cracked me up, aka one of the most mundane dunk contest dunkers in the history of the world: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G2A7GGrFZ4I

Its The Shorts That Bother Most Young Fans. But Guess What? Those Where Actually Shorts Not Bermudas or Gangster Clothes. :confusedshrug:

The 80's was an incredible decade of basketball. As far as the dunks, more finesse.

Never saw that one, thanks.

I love this 90s mix: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IKkQoJPOMEw

Man, that Erving hammer at 45 seconds needs to be seen more often. If you can palm the rock like a grapefruit, that's how you should be dunking when leaving the floor off two feet.

Also, 2:40 - the sequel to Tom Chambers' elevator dunk of doom. He did it again.

Interestingly, most 80s dunkers had more basketball skills than the best dunkers of today's NBA.

Yeah, that Dr J dunk was ferocious:eek:

Most young fans will watch the video and then not say shit here because it goes against their belief that the NBA is SO MUCH BETTER NOW:rolleyes:

Yes, mainly because today's players carry a lot more mass, which I think is a reason for a lot of injuries.

That and, I believe, improvements in sneaker technology. High end shoes simply don't give AT ALL today, and this puts tremendous strain on one's knees and other joints when changing directions/speeds, since the full impact is being delivered to the joint over a shorter time span, whereas with sneaks from 20-25 years ago, there was like half a second of "drag" before the sneaker planted and gripped, distributing the force imparted by the change of direction a longer interval to be absorbed over.

I really do believe that this plays a role.

So all the shit that makes things worse is an 'improvement' in technology?
