Anybody else psyched about this? It is a virtual reality headset that'll be coming out pretty soon. Xbox also has one on the way. It uses the PS move. I hope I don't have to actually hold up a gun and take mini steps to walk in order to play a FPS. The controller by itself is cool enough. They're also going to make 3D movies for it too, which would be insane to watch.

I'm not sold on it. I think it will divide gamers. Personally I can't be bothered strapping something to my head and waving my hands around. I'd prefer just to chill on the couch with a TV and a controller. I can see the appeal and I think it will provide a lot of opportunities for game developers to try something new, but right now I am not bothered. Done right it could blow up, done wrong and it will just be like the guitar hero controller - in the back of the cupboard collecting dust after 6 months. I think what stopped 3d films blowing up was the fact that it required glasses, while you can do more with this technology right now it looks kind of cumbersome. It also requires prolonged physical activity, something a lot of gamers play games to avoid.

it will be a tech demo until next generation when consoles are launched with the VR gear in the package like kinnect is this time around. You will get maybe 10 decent titles (if your lucky) that are actually built for the VR system and fully use it this gen. While they may be amazing devs won't want to make VR only games over regular games as the marketbase won't be there because it isn't included with the console.

Good steps forward though if they can keep the price down, when I pick up a ps4 I'll probably get a Morpheus if it's cheap enough just to see what it's like.

Carmack has been getting behind this virtual reality stuff for a while now. He had an interview back at e3 2012 that was real interesting.

If it's anything like Sony's VR movie headset, then you're in for a pleasant surprise. People have been raving about how cool it is. It feels like you're actually in the movie. Personally, I think the virtualboy failed for many reasons: 1. It was in red and 2D. 2. It was in red and 2D. You can't have a virtual experience when it looks nothing like virtual reality. I think with the technological advances of the next generation consoles, this would work, and plus, they're gonna make movies for it, so that alone is an experience in and of itself.

Crazy as it sounds, but I want to play some full motion videogames on this thing (a la Sega CD). It'll be like experiencing a movie. Think about the possibilities. FPS, football, Elder Scrolls, etc. in virtual reality; heck even sim city would be awesome if they let you construct a building from the inside. What about a full motion National Geographic game where you visit Africa and play with the lions?
