Number 1 is obvious, could certainly help in majority of the cases. 2 and 3 are great things to teach in general, whether it is about this topic or not.
I only have a problem with 4 and 5. There, she's putting it on men when it's society as a whole that ****s it up. Do you think all women believe other women? You think all women act when they're bystanders?
but this article is about teaching "men" not to rape...not "society"

I'm certainly not in the "men shouldn't get blamed" group, but by not even acknowledging that society as a whole needs these lessons, she's putting the onus on men only for those two points. Like I said though, great lessons to teach young men in general.
EDIT: Actually now that I look in the last paragraph, she does talk about society. I think that needs to be pointed out more than once, our attitudes towards rape as a society are ****ed up.

She says in the article that a woman can't give legal consent when she's drunk. If we're both drunk and I ask for consent and she says yes but doesn't even bother to return the favor by asking for my consent wouldn't that make her the rapist? :confusedshrug:

IMO one of the biggest issues with the rape topic is alcohol related...
I think it is a somewhat common story for a female to get drunk (really drunk) in high school or college to have some jock take her in a room and fck her when she doesn't want that. On the outside, it doesn't look or feel like "rape"...she isn't beaten, nor is she yelling "no"....she may not even have great memory of what happened, but she is certain she was penetrated...
When this happens to a female she is put in a bad spot afterward...if she comes forward she is certain to be called a liar by many, some drunk slut who is out to ruin a young man's life...on top of that she is putting it out in the public that she got plastered and some dude fcked her, which isn't something women want anyone to know...so many stay quiet about it, and the male just gets away with rape.
this is the situation that needs to be brought to light to men imo...

because america loves alcohol, and "personal responsibility" only comes up when poor people want a little help putting food on the table

The young men in Steubenville aren’t monsters. They did something monstrous and criminal but perhaps we should begin to stop repeating the notion that “criminals” are the ones raping 1 in 5 women. No, it’s our husbands, boyfriends, acquaintances, relatives, and friends and they rape because they are not taught to see women as full autonomous human
:lol
Dumb bitch.
'Rape culture' starting day one with Homer it seems. Maybe it says something about human nature in general and that plenty of people are sociopathic assholes, not that some evil 'rape culture' is compelling poor, misled guys to rape women.

I guess to me it just seems like if she doesnt want it at the time, why ISNT she yelling "no!"
If youre just putting up minimal, token resistance a lot of guys are gonna think you want it and youre just trying not to look easy. If youre yelling "STOP! DONT!" I think most guys will get the picture.
Chicks that keep the "no" to themselves and then afterward claim they have been violated makes things very tricky.

1. they're fcked up
2. some young girls are really shy and are just scared to speak up, esp around old senior type boys at their school...it is a similar situation to an older child being molested by an adult, they know the adult is doing wrong, but the child doesn't have the balls to say "stop, don't" etc

really though, in the situation I am talking about...the guy doing the fcking very much KNOWS he is raping, there in nothing confusing or "tricky" to him about that...it is just a common rape situation that makes it very easy for him to get away with it...

Well, I can understand the situation with a young teen. But a fully grown woman who chooses to get intoxicated and then engages in sexual activity should be responsible for her own decision IMO. None of this "oops, i did something stupid. but i was drunk so let me ruin the guy's life to save face."

If you and a woman are drunk and you start advancing on her and she isnt saying no, you feel that is wrong?
If women are excused for poor judgement bc of alcohol, why arent guys??

if a woman of ANY age, drunk or sober, is forced into sex against their will, that is rape dude...
if you got fcked up with your buddies one night and woke up with vague recollection of some big gay dude fcking you and a sore anus would you say ''ah shit, shouldn't have gone out drinking, I'm an adult now, my bad"?

Yeah I agree with this.
However, it's also ****ed when a girl suddenly regrets the sex she had with some dude, whether the next morning or a few months after..... claims rape and the guy's life is ruined. I seen it happen to guys.

I have to imagine it is somewhat rare for a woman to go through with rape story complete with court case and all in order to "save face" for getting drunk and slutting out, but I know women do lie about rape at times...smh
I am thinking that men who are celebs, or just wealthy are at much higher risk of being falsely accused of rape...
I actually believe that Tyson was falsely accused...as crazy as that may sound to someone who hasn't looked into the whole thing

Guys are just never going to be viewed the same as girls when it comes to sex. Society feels the need to victimized women and protect them because...historically they have been raped and assaulted a lot. It is a feeling that is deeply ingrained in our society (for good reason). Trying to make things "gender equal" when it comes to sex is fighting a battle that has already been lost.

some bish I got with in January (5/10 low self esteem chubby german chick, average looker, sorry bruhs I f*ck both uggos and hotties) was in my bed making out with me mad keen, then I take off her bra and she looks upset. I ask her if shes ok and she said no, so I stopped doing stuff to her. She said she didn't want to sleep with me the first day and I said "Ok that's cool" cus I really couldnt be f*cked cus she was a 5, was planning on not seeing her again cus the ho just an average 5.0 real talk. Then she says "Thats it, you're not gonna try for more?" and I said "nope I dont want to f*ck someone who doesnt want to f*ck me" and turned away from her trying to go to sleep. This wasn't a reverse psychology tactic, I literally didn't care and was trying to sleep, not trying to mess with her head. Then she starts making out with me, gets on top of me takes her panties off and says "I want you to f*ck me". Um ok.
A few weeks later I'm at hers and she just starts crying and tells me "I didn't want to sleep with you that first night, but you wouldnt take no for an answer. I dont want to say it was rape, but I didnt want it" WTF IS THAT SHIT?
So you're lying naked on top of me and kissing me and you aren't drunk and you tell me "I want to have sex with you" and then you go and claim rape 2 weeks later? That I wouldnt take no for an answer? WTF? So never called this ho again, I have no doubt in my mind though she telling all her friends I raped her.
F*ck that
Loads of warning signs I ignored about this ho too...the first time I kissed her she invited me over to hers for Christmas, and I didnt even know her for more then an hour. Still she was easy so I went for it anyways.
LET THIS BE A LESSON TO YALLS. I had to learn it the hard way, I've learned it loads of times and still I often ignore it. Don't hook up with low self esteem hos. They be cray. 5/10 would not bang again.

I dunno any of her friends, she just a bar skank I picked up, but they probably all think I'm a rapist, oh well lol.
Yeah exactly, f*ck this kind of shit, too many girls do this, but if you tried to have a campaign against girls crying false rape after giving clear consent you would get murdered.

The author of the article says she shouldn't have to take steps like buying a gun to prevent her rape. News for you dumb bitch you don't have to take steps to prevent your rape but you're stupid if you don't. I shouldn't have to carry a weapon in case I get robbed but I do because I realize it could happen. And If I were to get robbed, yes I would be the victim, and no it wouldn't be my fault. But I'd blame the dude that robbed me and try to get justice not write a 5 step article on why stealing is wrong. Everybody knows stealing is wrong just like everybody knows rape is wrong. The problem is the criminals not a lack of education among "young men" I actually know a dude that woke up with some chick he didn't want riding his ****. He's the young man in this case though so I guess its his fault a rape occurred.

To the extent that women with legitimate claims may be scared to report them for fear of being dismissed as a liar? It is a tough call. I agree with what you are saying but there is a fine line between deterring people making false claims and encouraging legitimate ones.

Thus is the problem with our society. There is not a clear dileneation to the women between regret and rape sometimes. They sometimes.equate feeling depressed or emotional about their behavior to rape. Not saying most women, but the few crazy ones, or the vindictive ones. This sort of craziness is what makes me want big brother type video surveillance. Im a good person with nothing to hide. Even the allegation of rape destroys a young mans life. I cant even imagine how my family would feel if i got accused of something like that.
