[QUOTE]According to RZA and album producer Tarik "Cilvaringz" Azzougarh, the plan is to take Once Upon A Time In Shaolin through museums and galleries, charging entrants regular exhibition prices, complete with tight security, door searches for recording devices and a policy of headphones

$30-$50? the entire idea seems ridiculous.
They probably fail to mention that it'll be available for digital purchase after the lone CD is sold.

so can the Wu release the songs themselves in spite of that one album?
It's not like that owner of that one album will own the rights to the songs...
no one buys albums anyway...an artist can release no album at all now

I thought they wasn't doing a new album cause of problems within the camp due to money.
Who actually buys albums anymore?

Im sure this is mostly just publicity. They wouldnt put out an album they didnt intend to sell on a widespread scale.
Whats interesting tho is that iTunes downloads are not CD quality audio. So there could be a legit bidding war for the physical copy of this album among hardcore audiophiles :oldlol:

I was the biggest Wu fan ever but this new album will probably suck...they are all mid 40s now...they have been separated from "street life" for years and years now...ODB is fckin dead
I just can't imagine it being very good music...hope I'm wrong though

That's what wrong with hip-hop, everything has to be about the street life.
Can't they can rap about the struggles of a dude who has to file for unemployment cuz he got laidoff? Can't they rap about folks who can't see doctors cuz they're uninsured? Can't they rap about how Medicare is killing hospitals?
Plenty of real life struggles that don't involve the streetz happens everyday.
First of the month....

eh...not really excited about it.
The single CD got me excited. Therefore, it worked to create the buzz. I wouldn't care but since they are talking about a single physical album then I am now interested.

This really blows for their fans.
If that shit gets torrented online then Wu-Tang will know exactly who did it, because they only sold that shit to one person. :lol :lol :lol
Plus, if someone pays tons of money just so they can be the exclusive owner of the album, then why the hell would they torrent it?

I always buy the physical album. iTunes is shit.
If you have good equipment, you can tell the major difference.

They are not selling copy, just one copy will exist.
They will basically bring this album to museums and shit as art exhibits. Sort of like certain films can only be seen at UCLA and other places.
For example:
Live at Yankee Stadium is a 1969 live album by The Isley Brothers, released on their own T-Neck imprint. While the Isleys appear in this live album, it's actually a live showcase by the group to conjoin artists that signed to their T-Neck label and Buddah Records-associated acts including Judy White, the girl group Sweet Cherries, the gospel group the Edwin Hawkins Singers and the family soul group the Five Stairsteps.
The UCLA Film & Television Archive has a non-circulating "research and student center" copy of this film on VHS and 35 mm reels.

I agree a lot of rappers are like that but If you look hard enough you can find some really good songs that have nothing to do with the streets. If you don't like the thug life music just gotta sort through the garbage. Some of my favorites are Eminem, Los, Benefit, Lupe Fiasco, and Tech n9ne. I seem to be the only person here that likes him but Hopsin has one of the best raps of all time with a positive message:

There are plenty of others who have some good songs with a positive message, or are even just funny, but have nothing to do with the streets.
Wu-Tang Clan is cool too though imo

Buncha lames in here whining because they can't download a leak off of dat piff...
I think its a pretty cool concept if the music doesn't get leaked and would definitely spend 30-50 bucks to hear it at an event

Yeah and they are all boring as fck...no one wants to hear about insurance and layoffs lol
Hip hop was born in the streets... That's where it's roots are

the Wu is comin through, the outcome is extremely limited.
considering how nutty the die hard wu fans are I expect an absurd sale price for the hard copy. Be good to hear from the group though.

Should have released like 7 (for each continent) or some shit. Would be more mysterious that way. Like 30 years from now "there are only 3 known of that album left in the world"
