Chris Paul cannot play against a big cover. Deron Williams was the king of shutting him down, that crown now belongs to Tyreke Evans. Paul would have been scoreless if not for a horrible call that sent him to the line for his only two points of the night. He was visibly frustrated and the only reason he had that many assists is that Crawford was having one of those superhuman nights that he has quite frequently.

Chris Paul has been guarded by the opponents best 2/3 since 2009.

Deron Williams gts shut down as soon as he isn't playing alongside Carlos Boozer.

Its amazing how we all watch a game but end up seeing different things. Is it that hard to analyze defense and offense? Do you just watch the 1 on 1 or are you watching the constant switching and defensive attention from 1 to 5?

Bruce Bowen used to guard him pretty well... granted not many SF's could keep up with PG's like Bruce could

Thought about this quite a bit, one has to remember that we are on an anonymous basketball forum and you never know who else is posting.

Take for example a 14-18 year old teenager who never even made a high school team, there's no way that person knows a lot about the technical aspects of basketball, let alone X's and O's.

Thing is, most of Paul's covers have ALWAYS been bigger than him and yet it hasn't stopped him from being one of the best pg's to play the game. No, not all of his covers have been 6'8", 6'5", or 6'6" like last night but Paul barely being 6ft tall, mostly all of his covers have been bigger than him.

How is Tyreke Evans and much more so Deron Williams a "big cover"?

Chandler Parsons is a slow SF with low Bball IQ

I remember my uncle was telling me this years ago. He predicted that Billups would destroy CP3. Bigger stronger guards can really f*ck with Chris Paul. I think he's gotten a lot better at dealing with players like that though.

Uh, this is true for most point guards. These guys never lead teams to championships because they're the shortest guy on the court most of the time - which means they're the easiest to guard in the post-season when defenses get serious. Look at Tony Parker's efficiency from regular season to post-season - Takes a nosedive.

IIRC, Paul burned Bowen pretty bad during the '08 playoffs. SA won that series when they switched Bruce onto to Peja. Shut him down basically.

Paul's problems in the Denver series, on offense at least, wasn't so much Billups (who is one of the smaller players to guard him in a playoff series, usually he's against a wing) or even Dahntay Jones as it was KMart, who always used to own CP in the pick and roll. Usually Paul loves mismatches with the PF's but for some reason he could never do anything against Martin, didn't help that he wasn't 100%.

Well he is the most overrated PG today.
