View Full Version : That Chris Paul trade has to be one of the worst ever

Eric Gordon, Chris Kaman, Al Farouq Aminu and the Wolves pick who turned out to be Austin Rivers.

I think it's way worse than the Gasol trade. At least Memphis got Marc Gasol and made 2 nice playoff runs, something they never did with Pau Gasol.

Funny part is .....We lost Chris Paul so he can lose in the Playoffs on The Clippers.

If only David Stern would have let the Lakers get CP3

It helped NOLA land Anthony Davis, so I'll call it a wash. Rivers has been pretty serviceable of the bench lately. Also, Pels are 6-1 with Eric Gordon inactive this season. If NOLA can flip EG for a decent 3 or 5, I'd cream my pants.

By the way, CP3 just lost to the Pels last night when the Pelicans only had 9 active players and DARIUS MILLER was playing some point guard. Went something like 2 points 0-12 from the floor.

Gordon was a 22/5 with good D on the Hornets and without trading CP3 Hornets would never have had the chacne to draft Anthony Davis. Chris Paul did not manage to get far in the p/o and with results in hand it was a good deal because now NBA managed to sell the team and Brow was drafted..

The Hornets would not have been bad enough to get Davis if the Laker trade had gone through. They would have been in the 6-10 pick range.

Chris Paul also wanted to leave, when he says that out loud there is nothing to really do, their alternative was getting Pau and Lamar, which sounds even worse.

Why do people pretend like this is true. You think Scola, Kevin Martin and a disgruntled Odom is leading the Hornets any where? :oldlol: Hornets could have still easily tanked the season and kept Dragic as well.

no pun intended

Could've got

Lamar Odom (from LA Lakers), Kevin Martin (from HOU Rockets), Luis Scola (from HOU Rockets), Goran Dragic (from HOU Rockets)

You really think a tanking team would have kept those guys? They would have been flipped for future assets and picks.

Dragic/Martin/Ariza/Scola/Davis

Is pretty formidable.

You hear me?

FORMIDABLE.

This team could have been battling it out for 10th or 11th seed and not have drafted Anthony Davis. Such a shame they missed out on a stacked team with that original trade.

Of course not. Dell Demps already had more deals lined up to flip what NOLA got. He nearly quit on the spot when Stern nixed the trade.

at the time eric gordon was the best young shooting guard in the league. marc gasol wasn't even in the nba when he got traded for pau.

You can't take the trading of Marc Gasol, or Austin Rivers for their current/future value.

You take it for what it was looked upon at the time. The Chris Paul trade gave some nice players to New Orleans with possible building for the future. The Memphis one was a dumping of salary essentially.

The better option would've been to draft John Henson even though Austin had the hype but Davis and Henson starring as the Skinny Twin Towers woulda been devastating.

Drafting Austin was probably what made this trade look less favorable for the Pelicans but Eric Gordon, Anthony Davis (who they got with the pick for being bad) John Henson (Clips/ Minny pick) woulda been a coup for CP3.

Well, they ended up getting the core of the future team, Davis, with some other pieces from the CP3 trade. It is not the finished product yet but they are getting there.

Well Stern seen how lopsided the trade was, so they gave the Hornets the number 1 pick.

Lakers have had enough success. It's about time the team spirals down into complete irrelevance
