Hate to make a Lebron thread considering the glut of them of this board, but I wanted to see if anyone felt the way I did on this. I'm a Heat fan, live in SoFLA and watch every single Heat game, and I have to say Lebron has been really poor this season on defense, in particular off ball defense.

He has always been the type to "space out" ball watching and give up a lot of open threes, this year however it's been especially bad. One play the other night he COMPLTELY lost Paul George it was Hardenesque, he's getting backdoored crazy.

To compound matters his on ball defense as been equally as horrific, I've lost count the amount of times he's been absolutely blown by with very basic moves, like Paul George the other night, he got CB dunked on by Bev, it's been s bad.

He's never had great defensive fundamentals and now that he's losing/lost his lateral quickness and explosion it's glaringly apparent.

That depends on if you mean relative to his standards or bottom line.

He ****ing sucks, every team dodged a bullet by not having him. The Lakers, Thunder, Bulls, Pacers, NY are all sitting in a room laughing at the Heat and their achievements over these 4 years.

He was never that good to begin with. He is one of the easiest defenders to blow by without help defense. Just give him a quick fake when you catch the ball, or if you have a somewhat quick first step, immediately put the ball on the floor and drive to the basket. Don't even need a crossover dribble.

Excellent help defender, overrated one-on-one defender.

This year he's been average defensively, not as strong as years past, and he'll probably make 1st team on reputation.

he lost Paul George a couple times because he was running off all those screens. That's what help defense is for. That PG dunk was in transition, he had a head of steam and got by him. LeBron made Paul George look silly a couple times on offense, but obviously he doesn't play all out defense on every play. He'd tire himself out.

he was never elite defensively. This is like a standard season for him.

I find this interesting. He is having a poor defensive season for his standards for sure.

We all pretty much agree his defense has taken a hit this year.

What I find funny is that his drapm is perfectly in line with what we see. A player that still plays okay defense, but isn't on the level he has been since like 08...

And what do you know...he has his worst drapm since early on in his career.

Bron is a defensive force of which we have never witnessed.

Terrific help defender, mediocre man defender. Overall he's still above average. But in 3-4 years I could see him being below average, unless he's with another legit superstar or perennial all-star (a healthy one, not like Wade) who can take a bunch of offensive pressure off.

Exhausted from shutting down Duncan, Parker, and Ginobili single-handedly in the finals. He can guard 1-5.
