Nearly everyone here is predicting a Spurs-OKC WCF. Not looking good for CP3

Difference this year is that BG is third in MVP voting. CP3 doesn't need to carry shit this year

I agree, it's a big difference with how BG is playing heading into the playoffs compared to last year..they could definitely make it to the WCF but they both need to be playing their best to get to the Finals

If nobody expects them to beat them than he isn’t exactly failing then is he...

Like it would be some disgrace if they lost to either in the 2nd round.

There's certain things that are consistent in the nba. Spurs winning 50 games, Kobe being a laker, and Cp3 failing to make the conference finals

I agree that CP3 never gets enough criticism for his failure in the postseason, but Griffin's had a breakout year. And Doc Rivers is supposedly such a top class coach that they should go farther than before. Should.

The Western conference is loaded- an upset or two could easily happen. OKC and San Antonio (especially SA) are the favorites for the WCF because it's an easy, safe pick.

Yeah because he has really had the teams to get there over the years, right?

spurs and thunder cores have been together longer under the same coach. of course they are favored. their chances will increase as blake continues to rise to superstar status.

i really wish duncan would retire though and the spurs would just go away.

It would be better for legend like Duncan to stay, both for him and the competition. You want to win by betting the best not because they retire :biggums:

so you believe in their first year they should be able to knock off the two best teams in the west who have better talent and YEARS of chemistry ?

the clipps have a new coach and too many new pieces. also they have not been 100% healthy all year. redick may not play again this year.

i hate the spurs but clipps would be a long shot to beat them. okc seems to be the only team that can knock them off because KD is so damn dominant. though i like the rockets chances because harden destorys them. they have no one who can even remotely check him.

For some people, it seems that unless a guy wins a championship, he's a useless POS who should just quit. The Clippers likely won't win the title this year, though they do have an outside chance.

Depending on how the season ends, however, I seriously doubt this year will be looked at as a "failure" for CP3 or the Clippers. They're among the best 6-8 teams in the NBA. Most franchises would take that in a heartbeat.

The Spurs are looking unbeatable to me right now. At this point, I'd be slightly surprised if they didn't win the championship, especially with homecourt throughout.

man what are you talking about ? hell jordan didnt even start winning rings until the stars of the 80s began to fade. thats all a part of the game. also its not like SA is the only good team in the league. if the clips were to win it means they overcame the thunder/rockets/heat/pacers. they still beat the best in the league at the time.

West is stacked.

If CP3 played out East, he would be in the Conference Finals every year.

There are no such thing as perfect conditions in the NBA. Injuries always happen, new pieces are always being brought in, teams sometimes enter inexplicable slumps.

I'm not saying that if they don't make it all the way then it's a failure. But most people would agree that the Clippers have made moves to improve. So its fair to say that they should come closer toward that goal and actually look like they have a real chance of attaining it. As for Doc, well he's coached the team for a good number of months already. He was billed as the man who can totally change the culture and prospects of this Clippers team. He's above excuses.

Yeah I know the Spurs are great, but it's not like they make it to the Finals every year since they dominate in the regular season. Remember when they lost to the Grizz in 2011? An upset is not totally outside the realm of possibility when you consider how great the West is.

Here is how I see it for the teams out West.

NBA Finals or bust:

Thunder
Spurs

Conference Finals or bust:

Clippers
Warriors

2nd round or bust:

Rockets
Blazers

Agree with all but blazers. I can't see they getting past the first and they will except expectations if they do. I mean they are going to a 7th or 8th seed at the rate they are dropping...

Neither the Heat nor the Pacers would be an easy out for any team in the Western Conference. You have to beat one of those two teams to make the ECF.

I get your point... the WC is stronger. I think we'd all agree to that. But, the two best teams in the East are on par with the best teams in the West.

Ya I agree if they don't have HCA it's not really a bust for the Blazers. They need to have a competitive first round though.

Ya it was definitely a bold statement. He would obviously have to be on a good team to really compete. Imagine CP3 on the Bulls.

i agree with you but i still think the spurs or thunder would pretty much have to choke not to make it to the finals. one of them SHOULD make it.

when i mentioned the injuries what i meant was they havent even had all these new guys together to have enough chemistry to be able to take both the spurs and the thunder as they will likely have to beat both of them to make it to the finals. the spurs are a well oiled machine and KD is a top 2 player with westbrook not too far behind.

i like the clips so i wouldnt mind seeing them in the finals AT ALL, but i just think its a long shot to take out the two most dominant teams to get there. they should put up a great fight though if they can get healthy
