I wouldn't say im suprised, but interesting to note that melo has never made 1st team all NBA. I suppose thats the result of playing in the same era as Lebron/KD/TD/Nowitzki

Anthony is a better rebounder and Wilkins is more explosive.

Impact wise, practically the same players of their eras. But as a gm, I'd take Wilkins. Melo is too bitchmade. Would stress too much over his dramatics. Talent wise though, melo does have an edge. His iq, ego or whatever it is has definitely limited him though.

I said the same a few weeks back, and last season.
Volume scorers that never achieved anything of particular significance, unless you count dunk titles and a scoring title pitifully gifted by KD.
Wilkins wasn't selected for the NBA's 50 Greatest Players distinction. Melo will find himself in similar company if he retires without even making a Finals appearance.

Nobody says shit like that.
Nique almost beat the Celtics, Melo can barely get out of the first round.

Well Nique is in the HOF and Melo will be there when his career is over. Both qualify as great scorers and great rebounders at the SF position. Both can get u 8-9 boards a game at SF, which is an awesome clip. So basically with these guys at their best, u get 28-30 points and 8-9 boards a game. U can't knock them hard if they aren't a Bron or Bird. Bron and Bird are the rare breed at SF who are a triple double threat every night. Point forward skills at SF are a bonus not a premium asset.
But for those that knock a Melo or Nique consider three things. For starters, the better all around player isn't the better player in all cases. Secondly, the MOST PREMIUM ASSET IN BBALL IS TAKEOVER SCORING ABILITY. And lastly, look at the teams they played on and the competition they ran into. Nique took the premier Eastern Conference team of the decade in Boston to 7 games. Look at Boston's roster in comparison to the Hawks. Boston 's roster was WAY BETTER than the Hawks. So it says a lot about the greatness of Nique. Melo got his Denver team to the conference finals. And look at the great season the Knicks had last year.
Finally, field goal percentage can be tricky sometimes. Guys like Melo and Nique can catch a case of hero ball. Because they know they are unstoppable players. So sure they will put up shots to heat check themselves. Or to get in a rhythm. But Melo for his career is at 46% field goals. Jordan is at 49.7 for his career. Jordan had seasons under 50% field goal shooting too. So if a player is closer to 50% than 40% for their career (just like Nique and Melo) cut that hater shit out in terms of field goal percentage.
Similar players, but Wilkins has had the better career (to this point). Anthony has a much more similar career to the likes of Marques Johnson.
