I say hes still well ahead of Kobe alltime by a WIDE margin.

He needs another ring and Finals MVP to be ahead of Kobe. I don't count Duncan's 2005 FMVP as it was clearly Manu's.

IMO to get behind Kobe, he'd have to go 6-24 or worse in game 7 of the finals. Otherwise, he still has a comfortable lead ahead of Kobe. IMO, Duncan is about #10, and Kobe should be #11.

And anyone who watched the series knows Duncan was the main main for the Spurs, especially on the defensive end. Ginobli got hot. If you consider Ginobli the FMVP, you pretty much have to consider Gasol to be FMVP over Kobe

Wrong. There was talk that Kobe should win FMVP even if the Lakers lost. Manu was clearly the best player of the Spurs series. .471 TS% especially for a big is just laughable :lol

2009- Bean .525 TS%, Gasol .647 TS%
2010- Bean .528 TS%, Gasol .556 TS%

Pau was clearly the best player on the Lakers and should have 2 finals MVPs, right? :confusedshrug:

And seeing as how Bean is chilling at home eating massive amounts of salary cap while Timmy is once again leading the Spurs to the best record in the league, safe to say whatever happens in the playoffs doesn't change the fact that Timmy>Bean.

Again, for the Pau was better than Kobe enthusiasts , what was the Grizzles record in 08 before Gasol was traded and what was the LAkers record before he came.

Let's proceed.

who cares, they didnt win in '08. pau got robbed of fmvp in '09 and '10 via ts% according to dfish24.

The question Kobe fans should be asking is if they will ever see Bean in the playoffs again.

I genuinely don't know which team Lakers would finish ahead to make the playoffs next year, especially considering the Pelicans will almost certainly be better in 14/15.

This looks pretty an all but it didn't lead to any deep playoff births.

Besides, you tried to completely sidestep my actual question.

What was their record in 08 compared to the LAkers before Gasol being traded?

Didn't Dumbcan lose as a 1 seed in the 1st round? :oldlol:

Nikka has never defended his title like a real GOAT does.

Nikka hasn't even gone to consecutive finals. :oldlol:

Was reduced to being a role player on his team for years, yet they still won 60+ games. :oldlol:

Yet people rank this nikka over Kobe and Shaq. :oldlol:

How about missing an easy layup to tie a Finals game 7 with 30 seconds left? Will that do it?

Nope

09 - Kobe 32.4 ppg, Pau 18.6 ppg
10 - Kobe 28.6 ppg, Pau 18.6 ppg

In 09 Pau was very efficient but Kobe scored too many more ppg. In 2010 Pau had only a 3%TS advantage which is not big enough especially when you average 10 less ppg.

Manu vs Duncan
05 - Manu .637 TS%, Duncan .471 TS%

Per game stats are unfair to compare because Manu averaged 4.7 fewer mpg. But per minute, Manu was the leading scorer .520 vs .505 for Duncan. And that's with taking 44 less shots :oldlol:

2005 Finals FGA
Duncan: 129
Ginobli: 85
Difference: 44 shots

2009 Finals FGA
Bean: 135
Gasol: 60
Difference: 75 shots

2010 Finals FGA
Bean: 163
Gasol: 90
Difference: 73 shots

For as wide a difference as there was between FGA between Bean and Gasol, the scoring margin should've been much wider, especially in 2010. And of course you don't want to compare per game stats between Duncan and Manu because Timmy put up 20/14/2/2 vs 19/6/4 for Manu. :lol

I thought 163 shots in 7 games was pathetic but then I did realized 135 in 5 is even more :facepalm worthy. 27 shots a game, in a 4-1 series? I know a couple of those games were close but still. Chuckbe :kobe: , no shame.

Duncan's legacy is already set...if anything the fact that he can still lead his team to contend at his age just adds to it

While Kobe makes 800k/week sitting at home watching his utube highlights.. When he could be playing already

I'd say the first round loss was more on Manu injuring his arm in the last game of the regular season (why Pop played him is unfathomable) and Pop leaving Splitter on the bench until game 4 opting for the Turd Towers (Bonner and Blair) instead. Not one of Pop's finer stretches.

Bird also never defended his title - shouldn't he be on a GOAT list?

At this point only thing that moves these guys up or down on the all time list is a ring, maybe even that is not enough, FMVP might be needed.

Duncan is already ahead of Kobe, he is Top9 and Kobe Top10, and 1st round exit wouldnt change that.
