Now days every NBA player has a "mixtape", but it wasn't too long ago where a basketball "mixtape" was a foreign idea, that was until AND1 & Skip put together "The Skip Tape" which literally put AND1 on the map

Love that he eventually found a solid spot in the NBA after struggling in the beginning of his career, proved a lot of people wrong. So younger fans who may not have heard of Alston until now, here's a chance to educate yourself on a little interesting piece of NBA/streetball history.

With him as a starting PG,the Magic beat the Cavs and went to the finals.

When Jameer Nelson in all his overrated glory replaced him,completely unprepared,he ruined the team's playoff chemistry and they under-performed in the finals.

Remember,the magic lost two games they had in their hands both game 2 and game 4.

Rafer was a terrific player and a mentor to young Wade.

Guys like Hot Sauce, Professor, High Octane, 1/2 man 1/2 amazing?

Pretty sure they're still doing their street ball thing or retired from the game.

I'm not sure if And1 still tours as much as they did back in the day. Skip will always be remembered though for being the guy who had the entire company of And1 built around him & his tapes.

He had some forgotten and largely underrated moments in the NBA. I'm glad it was noted that he was the starting PG for a Finals team. He did a great job quarterbacking the Magic through that playoff run. Dropped 26 in Game 4 of the Conference Finals and had 20 in Game 3 of the Finals. He became a good spot up shooter by the time he hit his 30's and he suited that team really well - throw it into Dwight, re-locate, wait for the ball to come your way, shoot.

He was also the starting PG on the Rockets team that won 22 in a row in 2008, which is the 3rd best streak in NBA history. A lot of those wins came with Yao injured and, by that stage, T-Mac was a 22-a-night guy rather than a 32-a-night guy. They were a really solid unit, even with Yao out.

PF - Scola
C - Yao/Mutombo (at age 41)

That 2007-2009 group may or may not be the best Rockets collective Daryl Morey has put on the floor, depending on how you feel about last year's team. The 2008-9 Rockets pushed the Lakers to 7 games in the 2nd round, minus Yao for the back half of the series.
