Players in the NBA don't seem to be dating women with black skin color. They seem to be dating brown, yellow (sure, racist, but we know what im talking about), white, pastel, etc.

Is this the same in the NFL/black men in the entertainment industry?

I'm just curious because it seems like for other high profile people of other colors, a lot of them date/go out with people of the same color profile.

For example, a very successful Mexican person (say a soccer player) in the US (brown guy) seems likely to date a hot brown chick.

What gives? Do black guys not really like black girls?

Personally, I'm not really physically attracted to them...but I think a lot of that comes from the worldstar type association I mentally have with them. Additionally, it comes from my parents (who aren't "racist, but are cultural" and would frown on me dating someone of any other race, but especially black). I'm socialized this way. I know it and accept it.

However, when I meet girls that have black skin color but are from London, South Africa, or actual Africa I do like them. I don't have all these negative connotations and outside negative percptory influences internalized. They seem (and usually act) cultured, interesting, fun and with a flair for life.


Black people/women are not a very large % of the overall population. Obviously when black players are young and many live in predominantly black, urban areas it's going to mostly be black women they see and interact with on a regular basis and thus date.

Once they become NBA players and are living/working in a different environment, the percentage of women around them who are black shrinks substantially due to simple demographics.

Obviously a lot of guys may also have a thing for a particular race, but it shouldnt be a surprise that NBA players dont date black women at the same rate as as men who live in predominantly black areas do. Those women become a much smaller % of the total # of chicks they have access to.

People have forgotten what are sig traits of races, methinks. If your mom is white and your dad is black... for the purpose of this thread... you'd think that it would be which one you looked more like. Being as this thread is implying that NBA athletes are attracted to white women. So, if a woman had predominantly white features, then she would qualify.
