I am a pretty knock down shooter. At age 22 I realized I was so streaky though (due to my form). When I had it going and was on fire I just couldn't miss.
However, it was tough because this didn't translate as well to 5 on 5 since I (or anyone) gets enough shots to really get in a groove when playing to 11.
So, I changed my shot to try and emulate Deron Williams. Was tough for me cuz I've been hooping since I was 9. Took me about 7 months of practicing for it to feel natural. Now, I'm fairly consistent.
At age 26, I made the next step. I started using the bank shot. Unless you have a shizzy court, it's unbelievable! It's changed my game. My favorite shot now is the bank shot 45 degree angle three pointer. I can consistently make 6-9 out of 10 when practicing and am above a 40% shooter of it in games. Only problem is when you miss it looks ridiculous haha.

The only problem with the bank shot is that if you get left open in the corner during a game and all you practice is bank shots that shot could have some pretty horrific results.

LOL damn... you're banking 3s
I use the bank shot a lot too, usually mid-range when im open. Anyone who sees me hit 2 bank shots in a row are amazed... I'm thinking to myself, really? It's not hard to do :facepalm But like you said, when you miss it looks way off and ppl think you have no game whatsoever :oldlol:

Yeah I hit 45 degree bank shots all the time anywhere in mid range but if i go to the three its straight to the rim.
The mid range bank shot i just naturally found easier then feathering it to the rim from close - mid range

For me hitting a 3 point banker is more difficult than a normal 3.
Would only use the bank shots on floaters and baseline angle shots that are a step outside the key.
If I hit a bank shot further out than that it would be unintentional...but will pretend to be unsurprised.

It is one of my go to move back in the day, aside from a funky Al Jefferson type hook shot.

I agree with people who think u really suck whenever a bank shot is missed badly.
There were non basketball poeple who were watching me lay during games who kept saying I was lucky for making bank shots (these people don't know bank shot at contrived not bad aiming that went in with good luck).
Whenever I would hit one those people sighed/chuckled so after that I started calling those bank shots "funny shots"
I don't use bank shots exclusively. Only whenever I am in that 45

I call bank on 99% of the bank shots I make. Most of the time I call it before I even shoot, lol.
And try banking in straight-on shots. I started doing it with FTs to show off/give others a chance, but it's fun in games. Allows for a higher arc shot to be more easily done. Difficult to guard.
My favorite bank shot is a real tight angle on the side of the court. Like a 15-25 degree angle. So unexpected from there.

3-pt banks...? i would doubt your word sir except i used to specialise in 3-pt hooks and floaters in intramurals and pickups... never could should a straight shot for shit.
