How would they measure up to the top teams of today's era?

Nick Anderson
Darrell Armstrong
Anthony Avent
Anthony Bowie
Horace Grant
Geert Hammink
Anfernee Hardaway
Shaquille O'Neal
Tree Rollins
Donald Royal
Dennis Scott
Brian Shaw
Brooks Thompson
Keith Tower
Jeff Turner

Coach Brain Hill

They finished the season with 57-25 and lost in the Finals to Hakeem's Rockets.

So how do they fair in this Era? How many championships do they win?

Have you seen the Eastern Conference? The '94-95 Magic would shit on this league.

surely

Maybe. If they played in the East, they would have a better chance at defeating the Heat than the Pacers do because of their talent.

They are a horrible matchup to the Heat because of Shaq and Grant, plus with a talented perimeter player. The defense isn't as good, but I don't think the Heat could stop Shaq for getting his. And it would be fun watching Penny vs LeBron.

I do think that Spurs would have the best chance of beating them just because Pop could out coach Brian Hill.

But if the Magic were better coached, they'll probably be a dynasty in today's league. They would definitely be the most talented team in the league. They were the most talented in 95 and 96.

Why do you guys say they wouldn't?

Yes, I don't see who could match up with Shaq. They are as deep if not deeper than the Pacers to boot, but Shaq is like 20x better than Hibbert.

I don't think the Heat could handle Horace Grant down on the block let alone Shaq. Grant would abuse Chris Bosh and run circles around a hobbled Oden.

What? They'd lose like 2 games in the whole playoffs. Who the **** is stopping shaq in this league?

In the East? Absolutely

No. Anderson and Scott sucked on defense.

OKC would destroy them in the finals

the magic would destroy teams in the paint. with a healthy penny to boot? you may as well call it a day.

they'd most certainly beat the heat and probably beat whoever came out of the west

I could see the '94-95 Orlando Magic making a good run and possibly winning the whole thing. They got the East no doubt about that. The Magic had inside and outside game going. Now winning the whole thing would depend on the team from the West in the Finals. If it is the Spurs, the Magic lose. The Spurs are like that old veteran at the court. He can't out jump you or out run you. But he has that old man strength and smarts. They work the angles; pass and cut. They out think you. That is the Spurs and I can see them beating the Shaq led Magic.

Now if it is the Thunder or Clippers, the Magic would win. Because then it comes down to just raw talent. Nobody is stopping Shaq. Those teams would try to run and gun with the Magic and that would play in the hands of the Magic. Remember Shaq was still young and loved to fly down the court and do those really cool dunks. I could see the Magic beating those teams.

Any reason why they wouldnt? IMO they would be clear favorites.

Prime Shaq, prime Grant, 95 Penny? RIP Miami. Shaq would put up 35-40 each game, Penny would wreck Wade, Horace would abuse Bosh in the post. Nick Anderson would put the clamps on Wade.

imagine Penny Hardaway seeing Westbrook for first time. He would think he was 200 years in the future with how athletic Westbrook is.

They lacked experience.

Maybe the 96 Magic would

U could say the same about the 98 Lakers.

They were pretty awesome on paper but didn't have that championship mindset

You have to joking.

I think the Magic would go all the way. Who's stopping Shaq?

Miami has no one to guard Shaq. 4-2 Orlando wins, with Lebron choking.
It would basically be 1995 ECSF all over again. Chicagos best rebounder was Will Perdue, and Pippen overall.

They'd probably end up second best in the whole league.

Now if they matched up with Miami though in the ECF, they might not be better than them as whole, but the matchup might lead them to a victory.

Nobody on Miami's roster can even come close to guarding 1995 Shaq.

Well, the 95 Magic did actually make the Finals & they whooped MJ ass on the road there. 98 Lakers were a bit too young outside of Shaq, imo. Kobe wasn't where Penny was in 95.

You are really underrating Penny's athleticism.

Young Shaq would absolutely demolish the Heat.

Series average: 45/23/6/4blk

And no one on the Heat can contain a young Penny, LeBron is getting too slow to contain explosive wings, their best option is Wade tbh.

Dennis Scott would hit 7 three's a game because of the constant double team on Shaq.

Horace Grant would have a field day being left open under the rim off the double on Shaq and he would have no problem going to work in the post on Bosh/Haslem/Bron.

Nick Anderson can lock down Wade/LeBron and give them some real trouble and Shaq can patrol the paint and embarrass LeBron/Wade at the rim.

Magic in 5.

They'd probably wreck the East, including the Heat, Shaq would just shit on them.

I'm not sure how'd they'd do in the finals.

Roy Hibberts numbers against the heat last year compared to his regular season 12/8 45FG -> 22/10 55FG

If you do the math... '95 Shaq would average 55/14 68FG on the Heat

Why do you guys say they wouldn't?

This year? They win.

2011? Heat beat them.

2012&2013? 50-50...

But whats this supposed to prove anyway? It was a great team, and made the Finals... so perhaps it would accomplish that today as well... They were never the same team afterwards you know.

Young Shaq would be a huge mismatch for any team on this league (more than usual LOL), i don't see anyone beating that stacked Magic team, including Spurs (Shaq would abuse 40 yrs old TD: Pop can't do miracles, stop overate him).

just my 2 cents
